It has already earned itself its keep on day one! Many small trees fell on my property, and I was able to dig out a pole with a concrete base and several downed trees. With the slip hook design, it can hold the chain tightly within the hook, while allowing it to secure to the tree when it is pulled. The front end loader I had of mine was used to cut down the old metal pole that the dish would have been mounted on To lift it up and drag it to the back of my land, I used the chain and slip hook. It turns out to be a very handy tool.
I couldn't move the tractor chain when it broke while I was dragging a tree. I sustained a concussion from the rebounding chain hitting me in the back of the head.
The chain measures 84 inches long with a 5/16 hook and a 12-inch link I believe the probe is about an inch in diameter. A gr70 short link chain with a 9/32 terminal is good for chokers rather than a chain with a long link. I am having trouble getting the smaller chain to fit in the 5/16 hooks, would be nice to find a hook made for 1/4 chain. However, all my 1/4 chains were made this way, I haven't found a true 1/4 hook as yet.
I will use mine with my tractor and atv to pull logs. It is very easy to pass the chain underneath the log thanks to the metal rod. It prevents the chain from slipping as it is tightened around the log. In spite of the chain's strength, it is still.
I have not used it yet but so far it seems to be It came in a very short time and was processed efficiently.
It's the same price everywhere else so I just bought it on Amazon to save time and money.
Pulling large logs is a breeze with this machine.
