A set of Pyrex six-ounce bowls that I had in my family for more than 60 years was in great condition. Since then, the bowls have been used as a serving dish for countless deserts. My last two were in the process of being broken when I (sadly) broke one and decided to retire the other before it too broke. The exact replacements were crucial to me, so I thought it was worth the money to invest in genuine Pyrex. There are huge differences between the new bowels and the old bowls, not to mention that they are much thicker and less elegant, and they probably came from China. For years, my mother has had a set of 6oz and 10oz Pyrex custard bowls, but several of them broke over the years, so I thought it would be thoughtful of me to get her some new sets. I began looking for them in April and could not find them in stores so I turned to the Pyrex website just to confirm they were still available. It was only around Christmas time that I found both sets of each available on Amazon Prime for a higher price, but with free shipping, so I grabbed two sets This new series of bowls is nearly twice as thick as the old ones, which is good for durability and helps reduce the risk of chipping. The dish-towel didn't even last on the top rack of the dishwasher for one cycle before breaking. A replacement had already been scratched when it arrived! My mom had them for many years, and I always found new uses for them. She still has two old ones she still has, but over the years a few of them were broken. So I bought these to supplement her two old ones. I think the Amazon reviewers were right when they noted that the new ones are slightly heavier and larger than the original, they are exactly that way! Thank you for that. I made these for my mom and they are of the same quality, say "Made in the USA" on the bottom, and she uses them to store uncut vegetables that she doesn't want to store in the refrigerator and to store other food items in there. You can use them for so many things around your home—they are both sturdy and a great size! I highly recommend it!.

I do not recommend paying the return fee to replace the set because the top glass was literally dust upon arrival. The shipping box was fine, but 3/4 are okay, so I will not worry about it.
