This product met our needs for a simple but sturdy solid maple top. We were looking for a sturdy kitchen island and shopped for weeks before finding it. You could choose the size you wanted, which we found to be a huge plus. This is the 24" x 36" we purchased. A good outcome for the island was achieved- It came in a package and I struggled for a while to figure out how to assemble it. I was able to do it from there. Our guide said to keep in mind that it is heavy, but that is what makes it so nice. We oiled it with mineral oil each night before going to bed and cleaned For the first week, I oiled it once a week, and then I began to prepare food, slice and cut on it, and serve on it. Eight weeks later, it was sealed well, but I still oil it every week. We find it to be a perfect fit.

There are several things to like This table is very sturdy, even without the shelf (more about that in the next section). The wood top is very nice and the table is very sturdy. like the item as a whole, but I cannot give it more than 2 stars given the amount of damage it has suffered. The Boo's Mystery Oil was also purchased, and I applied it right out of the box as well. There is only one bad thing in this world I am curious how a large number of these can be sent and how they are packaged in a way that allows for the damage I saw. Throughout the table, the shelf was set over the bottom. A quartet of leg supports can be seen extending from the bottom of the table. As a result of one of these supports, the shelf now has a ring along one corner. There was a cave-in on both sides of the shelf. Although both of those damage were cosmetic, the part that renders the shelf useless was the last bit. During the last few years of use, one of the metal supports, that were welded to the shelf, It is apparent that there was no damage to the outside of the packaging. In order to cause this kind of damage, this packaging would have had to be handled very improperly, but the packaging itself was clearly not very protective. There is no need for the shelf on the table itself, as it is sturdy enough without it. As a result, I am not going to return large items. The item can be recommended, but I would not suggest shipping it.
