Could this be stable if a 36" x 60" wood top were used?

That would not be the case for me. Although the base of the table is very sturdy, the part that attaches to the table is relatively small and may not be able to support a 60" table

You really get your money's worth with this product

I purchased this item to fit my 36 inch round tabletop perfectly, and it is sturdy and well made. I noticed that the materials were of a professional quality. Only thing was that the table was at least 42 inches tall after assembly rather than 30 inches tall.
