Questions & Answers

I'm curious how much flow this filter reduces; I'm currently using the 2200 filters without issue. Has anyone had any experience with this filter?

The pressure drop of the 3M 2800 (merv 14, 97%) is based on what I have read and what I have read and what I have read and what I have read and what I have 24 psi. I believe the 2200 is. 20 to . The 3M filters require a pressure of 22 psi.

What MERV rating does this filter have?

merv 14

In the upper level of the house, there is a problem with insufficient air conditioning flow. Is there any way to make it worse with this filter?

More filtration/finer filter media = less airflow, according to the laws of physics, which also apply to media type air filters. Those who claim there isn't a difference are relying on non-scientific evidence. DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM AS SCIENTIFIC ANSWERS, AS THEY ARE PROVED TO BE INACCURATE. I'm a former president of the RSES (Refrigeration Service Engineers Society), and I've worked in this industry for 35 years. Try balancing your discharge registers by squeezing the ones in the colder rooms by as much as 85% (you'll need to reopen them during the heating season). If your indoor air handler has a multi-speed motor, it's usually just a matter of moving a few wires to make it spin faster and push more air. Because there is often a mat of dirt on the INTAKE side of the indoor air coil (the evaporator coil) restricting airflow and because they are often difficult to reach, some "techs" will skip this critical step during annual servicing. Make sure the condenser coil (outdoor coil) is clean, shaded, and free of nearby vegetation. Use low restriction filters (MERV 2 to MERV 4) and replace them on a regular basis in this situation, and use separate stand-alone air cleaners to filter your home for allergens and viruses. A 20x20 box fan with a 5" deep MERV 16 filter taped to the intake side works fantastically for this purpose at a fraction of the cost of the more expensive fancy-looking HEPA units. best of luck!

Is it true that these are 3M products?

I purchased them from Amazon and they were genuine 3M.

It accomplishes what it claims, but at the expense of your heating and cooling system
3/5

I wish I could give it a perfect score of three. 5 stars because it does exactly what it claims to do, which is to filter the air more effectively. However, there is a cost associated with that efficiency, and it comes in the form of an increase in your electric bill as well as the health of your HVAC system's blower motor. Almost no residential HVAC systems were designed or balanced to pull through such thick media. Sure, they'll succeed, but it will be a struggle. The multivriate fans will increase power to accommodate the CFM the system was designed to, but this increase in power will increase the system's energy consumption and risk blowing out the motor (overheat/overwork). The single stage fans will simply reduce the CFM of the system, resulting in insufficient heating and cooling, as well as a longer HVAC run time (to heat or cool the space), higher electricity costs, and a higher risk of the motor burning out. br>br>With a brand new filter, all flow rates are measured at laboratory levels. Now you must understand that as soon as the filter comes into contact with a real-world environment, it will clog. The higher the filtration efficiency, the faster the filter will clog and reduce air flow, exacerbating the above effects. br>br>My advice to anyone looking at this is to either replace it every 2 to 3 weeks to keep the system healthy, or get a dedicated whole house HEPA addon to the HVAC system (it's a dedicated blower with filter media) or buy the HOLMES 5" to 1" conversion filter, which provides a 5" filter in a 1" space, allowing for high filtration and high CFM (since it's now 5" thick media as opposed to easily plugged 1.

Filtrete has created an incredible filter
5/5

20x25x1 PERFECT FOR MY "BETTER BOX FAN FILTER!" DIY PROJECT! Filtrete has created an incredible filter. My current roommate is a ten-pack-per-day smoker who refuses to go outside to smoke. Unfortunately, I currently reside in Dallas, Texas, where the weather is oppressively hot for ten months of the year, so opening a window to air out my two-bedroom apartment is not an option. The central air is always on, which spreads the smoke throughout the apartment (including mine). After doing some research on HEPA air purifiers, I discovered that a suitable purifier would cost $500, which is currently out of reach. I came across "Tom's Better Box Fan" website, which had instructions for making a DIY Box Fan purifier for the price of two filters and a box fan. I came up with the idea of making one myself. Some people think it's a good idea to put a 20x20x1 filter on the back of the fan and call it good. The motors on a Walmart box fan aren't built to withstand the stress. To fix this, take two 20x25x1 filters and "hinge" them together on the intake side of the box fan, then cut them apart. Create a tight seal by taping cardboard from your Amazon box to the top of the filters. For only $50, you can make your own purifier. I WAS OVERJOYED WHEN FILTRETE RELEASED THE 2800 SERIES OF FILTER! The highest quality filters available in these sizes that can filter tobacco smoke! I also liked the fact that they came in a two-pack (which was ideal for my double-filter box fan). ) To make my air purifier, all I needed was some white gorilla duct tape, a box fan, and a knife, as well as 30 minutes. These filters are effective against ULTRAFINE PARTICALS such as smoke, smog, and 2. Pollution level of 5 meters. After an hour of running my better box fan in the smoker's room, the air had cleared and the tar and yellow filth on the filter surface could be seen. THIS 2800 SERIES OF FILTERS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! It's well worth the extra money, with a solid heavy-duty construction that will last.

MERV 14 fakes are being sold by Filtrate in the midst of the Covid-related scandal
3/5

Pandemic number 19 has arrived. Despite the fact that the packaging claims otherwise, these are not MERV 14 air filters. The pleating is at least half as dense as previous COVID-branded products I've purchased. There was a 19th outbreak. We could tell right away that our air quality was poor. What a pain it was to discover that the old filter was far superior to the new, phony, and falsely advertised filters. I've posted photos comparing the pleating density of the fake MERV 14 to that of the real, pre-Covid 19 one.

Filters out what you don't want to see! Images can convey a lot of information in a short amount of time
5/5

br>br>I keep the furnace fan turned on 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Keeping the air moving and, as a result, clean is essential. br>br>I own a recording studio, and I want the air to be as clean and clear as possible. br>br>I've been using these filters for a long time and they've never let me down. br>br>Photos depict the results of a three-month experiment that ran 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This is stale air from Southern California. br>br>I'd also like to point out that I was very close to the fire zone of the recent fires, and while there was soot and ash flying around outside, I couldn't smell any of it inside.
