A while back, I installed an exhaust muffler to make the auto-transmission quieter. My shop compressor is on the verge of being drained. They must be cleaned or replaced as they become dirty over time. If you're just getting started with them, get a few. br>br>These 1/4" npt mufflers were sent to me, but they weren't the 3-pack. As shown in the illustration, the slots are arranged in the manner shown. There are only two slots per axial position in the package I received, and they are only 2/3rds the length.
It certainly made my compressor run quieter, but it choked it out to the point where it ran nonstop in an attempt to reach my pressure setting. The entire baffle is closed off now that I look at it closely. I'm not sure how air is supposed to get in or out. You could get the same effect by removing a plug or completely capping your motor's intake.
They appear to work well and reduce the noise generated by my homemade pneumatic power hammer. I would buy from them again without a doubt.
They appear to be in good working order. They're not nearly as big as I had anticipated.
Silencer for air compressors that automatically drain.
Silencers are very nice and fit my pneumatic power hammer perfectly.
