They have a lock washer attached that makes it easier to thread in tight places. They often need only to be hand tightened to hold. This type of lock washer works best on medium-soft metals, where the lock washer can bite. Be sure to have a few on hand since you never know when you'll need another. I guess it did take a paragraph after all!.
