It turned out that the helicoils were shorter than the original It is stated in the description that they are 5mm, and they are definitely shorter in person. A 7mm ring has much less holding power than a 10mm ring from an engineering standpoint. There's a difference of 5mm, and there's a high-quality component involved It's important that I have all the grip I can get on the energy diesel starter. In all other respects, the tools are great, and it came much faster than anticipated. I find that to be the biggest shame of this whole I have no complaints about the hardware, but the sales representative spent a long time telling me a 7mm helicoil is the same as a 10mm helicoil. The thread repair kit has proved to be reliable. In order to install the threads, I had to design a small tool with a groove at the end, but this was not a problem and the threads seem to be working well now.
My Hummer H3 Radio antenna threads were easy to repair this way since it was much cheaper and easier than a more complicated fix. My experience with helicoils includes industrial repair applications, which is why I know they are of high quality. These thread repair kits have also helped me to repair threads in the transmission mount holes on my Suzuki Samurai.
