The length of the river between the bottom of the head and the split shaft is half an inch. This is half (1/4") of the total split length. Approximately 1/4" wide is the head and 1/8" diameter is the shaft

From the bottom of the head to the point where the split ends, it is 1/2" long. Approximately 1/4" of the split has been cut off (1/4"). 1/4" is the width of the head and 1/8" is the length.

The rivets look like they are plated steel, aren't they?

The brass parts of them appear to be nickel plated
