What you pay for is exactly what you get
3/5

The only reason I gave this product a two-star rating is because of its unique features. Because of his low cost, he is a star. Do you think that's a lot of money? I suppose it depends on how you define 'great value. ' br>br>I was expecting a box, but it comes in a bag, not a box, as another reviewer stated. I'm not knocking any stars for this, despite the fact that I probably should. A box would be much better, especially because a bag would blend in much better with your belongings than a box, and I'd end up making my own box to store them in anyway. Some pins had already protruded from the bag when I arrived. These rivets have been painted. Why is it that white is preferred? I'm not sure what to make of it, but it's strange. These appear to be made of aluminum because they are light and soft. Given the low cost of these rivets, the manufacturer should have left it alone unless they had something to hide. Because these don't crush well, the pinhead end will come through the back-end, which is why the paint is a thorn. The back side of the tool presses against your tool, which is to be expected. The tool deforms as the head presses against it, flaking off the paint. Perhaps a more malleable paint would be better? I find the paint to be obnoxious. The next two issues I have with these rivets are related to size, and your experience may vary depending on your application. br>br>If these were black anodized or something similar, that would be cool, but that would make these rivets a lot more expensive. br>br>The next two issues I have with these rivets are related to size, and your experience may differ depending on your application. The barrel should be 1/8" in diameter. Although I haven't measured it, I believe the barrel is 1/8" in diameter. The extra paint is what gives it its bulk. The two halves of a part I make are held together by four 1/8" rivets. My holes are punched with a CNC punching machine, and I've never had any problems with other 1/8" rivets, including those purchased on Amazon. These will occasionally slip in, sometimes I'll have to mash them in, and sometimes they won't even go in. I believe I have a two-out-of-three success rate with these rivets, with the two successes coming after a lot of effort. If these weren't painted, my success rate might have been higher. Most people hand-drill their 1/8" holes, causing the hole to be oversized. In this case, I suppose it should work out a little better, but be aware of my second size issue, which may cause them to be too loose. br>br>The pin is the second problem I'm having with size. It appears that the pin is too small. I used a hand riveting tool and steel rivets when I first designed the part. This was effective, but it was extremely taxing on the hands, wrists, and other joints. After that, I purchased a pneumatic riveter, which made things a lot easier. After about 500 rivets, I purchase this pack of rivets, only to discover that the pin does not fit the rivet gun. The problem isn't so much changing the nozzle on the rivet tool as it is that I now have to switch from my more expensive tool to one that can work with a less expensive rivet. These undersized rivets also easily push into the barrel, with a rate of about 4 out of 5 rivet pins pushing back. When this happens, try to get something behind the pin head, such as a flat screw driver, and hold it there while you use the rivet tool on the other size; a power tool would pull the pin in a single stroke, whereas a hand tool would take about two squeezes with aN adjustment in between. Good luck, especially if you have blind holes to contend with. As a result, I reverted to using my old rivet tool, which worked much better. My old Stanley rivet tool, on the other hand, was what I started with, and it didn't have any fit issues, nor did my pneumatic tool with other rivets. What a pain in the wrist!br>br>Unless your application requires a high level of tolerance, these will most likely suffice. Otherwise, I would advise you to pass. My hard-won success rate with these is about 2 out of 3, so I'll be discarding about 170 rivets out of 500. If you run a shop like I do, you'd rather be doing work and making money than fussing around trying to get things like these rivets to work, and these rivets can quickly add up. My options with these rivets are to muscle through them until they're gone (a lot of pain, sweat, tears, and wasted time), or to put them on the shelf and buy quality (or higher quality) rivets. I've only used about 30 of these rivets so far, and I'll probably store the rest; this does not strike me as "good value. ".

500 rivets for a very good price
5/5

The price is good for a bag of 500 pop rivets, especially since 1/8" pop rivets are becoming harder to come by than they were just a few years ago. If you don't have a spot welder, these are ideal for joining sheet aluminum. Due to the white paint coating, a 30 drill bit rather than a 1/8" drill bit will be required to bore holes for these rivets.

Vinyl Gutters are a great choice
5/5

These rivets were used on a vinyl rain gutter; the white rivets matched the white gutter perfectly, punctured the vinyl easily, and stayed in place.
