It is determined by the metal's thickness. If the metal sheet is thin, a few hammer blows should be enough to drive the nail into the wood.

There are about 302 nails per pound.
Is it true that they are 3/4 inch, or do they extend a little further? (I only need them to be 3/4" long, but shorter is fine)?
Shouldn't exceed 3/4" in length.
