It may appear that 1/4in is insufficient, but consider the following: No! I came across this video on YouTube. 200 lbs can be held in a quarter-inch hole. OK. So now I know what I'm going to buy. Use a 3/8-inch drill bit. OK. I had one on hand by chance. Who cares if it's masonry or not. The hole is in excellent condition. Make sure you don't collide with a pipe or (gasp!) a conduit. So make a small test hole and see what happens. Then, once the path is clear, remove the screw - For the time being, disregard the toggle. and squeezing it in all the way. Flush. Because that's exactly where it'll be - or something similar - after everything has been said and done Why? Tighten the toggle if there isn't enough open clear space for the screw to go all the way in. That is, if the screw bottoms out on the opposite interior wall or on something else, you won't be able to tighten it. So, what are my options? Remove the screw and cut it. All you'll need is a hacksaw. The Clippers will suffice. In either case, re-thread the screw by running the toggle back down it and removing it. Get it? After that, sew in the item (a plate, perhaps?). ) to be re-enacted, re-enacted, re-enacted, re-enacted Thread the toggle with a 1/4in screw extending (so the toggle doesn't get confused and slip/spin inside the wall), push it down the hole, feed bolt, hear the click as the toggle springs open, and apply appropriate counter-pressure. tighten down and apply pressure (so the toggle locks rather than just spins). Oops! What should you do if you forget to thread the plate fist? So, what are my options? Plan A: Cut the head off, install the plate, and replace the nut with one from a similar toggle set (yes, sacrifice it). It could possibly work. It's been accomplished by me. Plan B: Accept defeat, remove the screw, and let the toggle fall into the wall (no one but the termites will see it, right?). ) and begin the process from the beginning. This time, however, do it properly. OJT. It is said that practice makes perfect.
They do the job, but it's inconvenient to have to spend more time and money ordering washers.
.
I bought a sample to see how they worked out before going out and buying 1000. For a fraction of the price, you can get the same (or better) quality as you would at Home Depot or Lowe's.
Works perfectly for the task at hand!.
Fixing the hinges on a hollow door was a breeze.
Toggles that work well. The heads on these bolts are almost too small to be useful, but washers come in handy when they're needed. I'd be a big fan if they had bigger heads. It has a lot of holding power and is quite large.
