It is designed to fit into a standard square junction box. So you can mount to that depending on your studs. The transformer comes with a square cover plate for mounting. I'd make sure you can get to it from inside the studbay, as it's a Junction Box that shouldn't be hidden. Because mine is in the basement and below the thermostat, I simply ran the thermostat wire into the studbay from below.
If you need to ask, an electrician might be able to help you.
This guy used this product to power 12VDC lights, which was incorrect. This is a fairly typical transformer. It converts 120 volts AC to 24 volts AC (not DC or 12 volts). Now, I'm using this to power some zone dampers, and it's getting pretty hot! That, I assume, is why it has such a large heat sink. Anyway, you can't possibly be wasting more than a few cents per day (or hour?). ), but inefficiencies are evident in all of that heat. I'm going to swap it out for something that won't get as hot. I have three 8VAC loads in total, for a total of 24VAC.

The Ring Pro required a more powerful doorbell transformer than my old one. The Ring Pro works best with a power supply of 24V and at least 30VA, according to online reviews. My Ring Pro now reliably transmits clear video thanks to this transformer, which met the requirement. If you're using this transformer to power a Ring Pro, you should also install a switch that allows you to turn off the transformer and doorbell. This makes it easier to power cycle the doorbell, which may be necessary if the doorbell's wifi connection is lost.
This book comes highly recommended. This is a godsend for anyone who buys an ecobee or smart thermostat but only has two wires to their furnace or boiler and needs to run new wire. I attempted to hire someone to install it but was unable to due to scheduling conflicts, so I completed the task myself. It wasn't too difficult. This transformer is a step-down transformer that reduces the voltage to 24 volts, which is ideal for a thermostat. It includes a large electrical box mounting bracket that makes it simple to install on an existing or new box. I connected mine to an existing junction box, then installed a small junction box to connect the two wires (red/white) from my boiler to the two new wires (yellow/blue) from this transformer. My ecobee4 is now powered by this transformer, and it has been operating normally for the past week. This transformer has three mounting options and includes everything you need to get started. instructions should be followed.
Most generic doorbell transformers fail to meet these requirements. br>br> Believe me, I learned the hard way by replacing an 8-volt transformer with a 16-volt transformer and still getting poor results. br>br>This transformer has plenty of "juice" to power my two Ring doorbells, and I'm sure it would work with traditional chimes as well.
The installation went off without a hitch, replacing a decades-old system. My old doorbell transformer was simply unable to keep up with my demands.
Works well with the "Ring Pro" doorbell that is hardwired. Anyone with a basic understanding of home wiring (e. g. , a master electrician) should be able to A doorbell transformer can be replaced by turning off the power and being safe. Because "Ring" went off line several times during the first two weeks and had to be re-energized, we had to replace the underpowered transformer (10VAC @ 5VA). Cycling power at the breaker is used to set the timer. Since the new transformer was installed, there have been no further problems.
Item arrived as described and works perfectly; I'm using it to power a wifi thermostat at 24 volts. The required wiring was missing from my older furnace. The Honeywell AT140 was a great choice because it had simple straight forward wiring and a few mounting options. br>br>(Caution When in doubt about a project involving electricity, hire a professional. ).
To begin, keep in mind that this is a 24 VAC circuit rather than a DC one. Second, in order for the unit mounted on the included plate to fit against a standard square box, you may need to break off screw mounting brackets. The changes can be seen in the photos attached. If LOAD = Rc and COMMON = C are set on the Nest template, and there are no other jumpers or shared wires on those connections, this WILL provide power for your nest. Connect R G W as normal on my REZNOR UDAP heater - It really works! I hope this information is useful to someone.
I bought a Zmodo Greet 1 to replace my regular doorbell. 5 knocks on the door The video doorbell works fine; I receive notifications when there is movement, and my phone rings when the button is pressed. br>br>The issue was with the chime itself; when I installed Greet, the chime made a humming noise and did not ring the bell at all. Thankfully, Zmodo included a small device that can be attached to the chime to silence it. Although the humming sound was removed, the chime was still so weak that you couldn't hear it unless you were expecting someone to ring the bell. Furthermore, the chime would not sound at all if you pressed the bell a second time. br>br>I found my transformer, which was only producing 10 volts, and replaced it with this, and everything is back to normal. Chime is a loud chime that can easily be heard from the first floor. I can repeatedly press the doorbell button, and the chime will continue to ring loudly. br>br>Very simple to set up.
