A DIP package can be used for the 74HC08
In fact, I used a breadboard with it.
You should be able to use it if your mcp3008 chip has a DIP style

Obviously I knew what I was getting into with the price. The listing states that the pins are guaranteed not to bend. I guess you know what I discovered There are a few bent pins in my package. Since the materials used are so flimsy and the metal so thin, it is impossible not to bend the pins The result is that trying to align the sockets correctly is difficult. Usually, I would get two or three metal pins poking out of the socket top because the pin is difficult to bend back again once it's been bent All lines are perfectly aligned. As soon as I got them lined up perfectly, I could squeeze the tip of the pin and pull it through the PCB and a tiny bit of the pin would show through the PCB. Heat is also not well resisted by the sockets. It is better to spend the money on sockets that are more durable unless you simply want to practice with them.
Because you get 100 pieces for only $10, these are 3 stars! These are CHEAP, so they're great! they aren't pretending to be expensive or high quality, so a 3 Star, average product.
The pins are cheap and VERY fragile, and the plastic is cheap and soft. As far as the soldering is concerned, they did a good job, but if you want quality, find somewhere else. There is no need to look further if you want "good enough". I am updating It was only when I went to write a review on how lousy these were that I realized that I had already populated it, LoL. I have accidentally purchased these again recently, forgetting where I purchased them from previously. I think they are now even cheaper! There has been no change except that nothing has been altered. After arrival, the legs were either broken or they were partially sticking out of the sockets. There is only one thing that these might be useful for. I do NOT think this can be reworked. You're not going to have any working pins unless you've spent all day going to the store and getting lucky.
Thankfully, most of the sockets in this kit aren't utilized, as I got them mainly as a contingency against my "growing pains" in hobby electronics. A few days ago I used one of these An overdrive pedal I was building consisted of two IC's and socketed boards, which were included in the kit. It wasn't until I made a terrible mistake soldering the first socket to the pedal's PCB that I was forced to desolder it, which ultimately led to it being ruined. Then, when the struggle to get rid of the now useless socket had been completed, I simply grabbed a nearby eight pin socket from this set and began As a result of having this on hand, I was able to finish building the pedal in a timely manner (the pedal actually works!). I didn't even need to bend the socket's legs in or out when I took the socket from this kit and inserted it into the PCB I was working on. This kit is probably going to work perfectly with any of the sockets it includes.
Although they are cheap sockets, the ICs fit well, and can be soldered easily. You should ensure that the through holes in the sockets are clean if you're using them to socket old boards. Unless you do so, the pins will stick out if something gets in their way. No problem if some pins are pushed out. Simply reinsert them through the top and make sure they are seated. I was able to connect my C64 to the socket flawlessly.
Despite my very best efforts, we were unable to deliver the correct item to me. In the picture, first time and second time around, you can see that I ended up getting cable connectors instead of the IC sockets I had requested. It's okay to put these parts aside. Fortunately, I don't need so many of them at the moment. My order with another distributor is similar to the one I just received hopefully I get all.
It was a good investment to purchase this kit of IC sockets for my project. In many reviews, there were complaints about the sturdy socket pins. I would agree with these complaints. It wasn't necessary to break any pins. The ones I had were bent, but I straightened them out without breaking My IC sockets have worked well now that I have used them a few times. The soldering of this to a breadboard was simple.
There is something wrong with these sockets! If the pin is not soldered correctly, it will fall out. It is possible that some pins are not soldered to the board, so those pins will come out of the IC when it is removed. It is better to save your money instead of buying.
The sockets give the same functionality as the breadboard socket, without complicating the process. When the circuit is working, I remove the socket and hard-solder the chip to the board, so there still is a use for sockets, and this product covers that need. The book was worth the price, and it was delivered to my door in just a couple days because it was from Amazon.
