If you want to calculate the blood oxygen levels from scratch, you can search for MAX30100 on github or write the algorithm from scratch. The examples available for building can be used as a starting point. Examples are arduino code examples to use the sensor with a microcontroller based on an arduino. These codes can be converted to be used with anything else, as they are not too cryptic to be used with something else.

It is fun to see that some connections and a bit of code actually allowed it to read alright, even though I have not yet compared it to a commercial unit. I think this is a fantastic.
It is really nice to have a sensor like this. It is important to be careful with software out there for using these. Most of the software available is The good news is that some people have written software to use the sensor for real-world applications, and that software is acting better than the sensor itself. It turned out that one of the sensors was DOA, but the vendor quickly sent me a replacement. The same vendor would be my first choice for these next time.
It is able to use libraries from similar breakouts. My Uno was able to connect with no problem.
Despite the fact that the Max30102 is an okay monitor for HR, the SpO2 calculation cannot be determined. Having tried many different devices and codes, I can obtain a good HR, but I cannot obtain a high SpO2.
I think all is well, but it would be good if they spent more time on easy to use/find software related to their product.

I did not have any problems. My fingers were having a hard time reading it. My skin is thick and my fingers are rough, so I may be the one.
It is impossible to place header ports away from the module, as heat can affect them.
