Is this something you could use to control an electric heat element for a small kiln at home?

It doesn't seem that way to me. A variable output with a fuse of 20 AMPS is provided. By using this device, I am reducing the system voltage from 120 VAC to 115 VAC, which is the standard house current in the US in 1963, when the radio was first created.
