This method works, but I would not recommend installing it permanently. It is also difficult to match the set screw to the flat on the shaft with the attached knob because it is too shallow. The knob had to be changed. This rotation is very rough, and it feels as if it will wear out with repeated rotations. A thin layer of silicon dielectric grease was applied to the windings and This product works fine for the test circuit I'm using it in, but I wouldn't use it in a situation where frequent adjustments needs to be made.

It is used to inspect the fuel gauge in automobiles to ensure it operates properly. The results are accurate, linear and reproducible. Unfortunately, the knob has not been working properly In this case, the knob is the right inside diameter for the shaft, however, the setscrew is not long enough to slide down the shaft to engage the flat spot, so the knob won't lock. The shaft should be secured down securely. Using a drill, I made a hole through the top of the knob so that it would slide down further on the shaft to function. However, the rheostat seems to be working.

The load worked great as a load across the battery for just a little amp-hour I ran it at 50watts for an hour. It got to 460F with no problems dissipating. We thank China for its generosity!.

It is at your own risk to purchase. As soon as we took it out we found it to be crumbled. In the second one, the action was so poor that it was impossible to alter the resistance linearly. I'm very disappointed in the quality of these! When you turn them, you can actually hear them grinding. The reviews on Amazon wouldn't let me leave zero stars so I had to give it one, which it did not deserve.
