Trying to learn electronics is proving to be a challenge for me. In my lab work education, I use this device connected to a breadboard. It's been many years since I have handled electronics, so I have a lot experience with measuring resistors, and so I have established a good sense of quality. In spite of its very low quality, this unit does what it was meant to do. The coil moves in a very coarse manner. your system to run smoothly, make sure you invest the appropriate funds in quality items.

There's not enough room in the picture to show just how big it is, and the hand-held controller I built is huge, but it works, and I can run 7 engines and a 60 car train on my model railroad! 1) The knob on the cover is a bit small for something this big, I was well pleased with the purchase.

It is now possible for me to perform accurate and quick tests on most batteries. This is good for tool, garden, etc. battery chargers (not for autos! Rather than checking your car batteries, you should use an auto battery tester.

A rheostat that works well enough for occasional use is fine. During testing, the power handling was shown to be good, 4 amps intermittently. Getting resistance to exact values is not possible, so you have to be happy with getting within a few ohms of the target value, which should be I prefer to move the carbon block wiper arm instead of the knob because it is smaller for the torque required to adjust the resistance. Three-position rheostats are commonly used in commercial applications I'm a happy tinker since the product is four times more expensive.
