It is easy to obtain jumpers as part of standard breadboarding kits
This board uses an industry-standard Maxim part (the MAX7219 referred to in the title) for construction. The Pi is trivial to write to and is accompanied by a wide variety of information on how to do so. If a Pi can perform almost any task, you can do it with the Pi.

Two of these modules were purchased, and one of the LED displays on the PCB is not soldered flush to the board, as other shoppers have noted. In order to straighten it, I must use a reflow station. You will find the 5 inputs for VCC, GND, DIN, CS/LOAD and CLK on the left side of the board. These four modules are connected together on the right side by DOUT, which replaces DIN for cascading to the next unit. As a result of the PCB extending beyond the display on both ends, it is impossible to place two modules end to end without a gap The lights are still readable in a darkened room with the intensity set to 0. *Note that digits 0 to 7 are wired from right to left when it is set to 15.
When it is set to 15, they are extremely bright, but need a tinted filter to improve contrast. This means the 7 is the first digit in the left hand column.
So, first of all, the good stuff One vendor wanted twice as much as I did, so I got two for much less. I was impressed with their speedy arrival and their hard work. In technical terms. There was a serious skew in the second pair of four digit displays. There was a lot of mess that I had to re-do They must be aligned properly before they are welded. Yes, it was a very simple fix that took less than a minute to complete. It is okay for one of the screens to be off, but for both of them to be crooked is unacceptable. I'm still here. It was a job for both of them. It's good that's the case.
You have done a fabulous job! My project is building a simple control box for my laser cutter, and I will be using these to display flow rate of the water and power consumption of the laser head (40 watts maximum), nothing too complicated, but these are easy to use and work out of the box with the Arduino libraries. I have already got about 15 projects in the works I have 20 loose 7s For this project, this was an obvious choice since there would be no hand soldering and the layout would be much smaller than with segment displays. We are surprised that they can sell with Amazon shipping for such a low price!.
You can look at them for a while and they are pretty The display is very nice. It's easy to hook them up and they're pretty to look at. If you set them up correctly, they can be extremely bright. There was an issue with the 4 segment displays on both devices, so I took off a star for it. The soldering iron has never given me a problem because I'm pretty good with it. It is likely that I will receive more funds for other projects in the future. A brief update Buying more was a good idea. Both of the displays were straight, so I upgraded to a 5 star rating.
I really like the display.
The two units I bought are both dead on arrival. It was tested with other working units that had the same arduino coding, however the units would not power.
The five stars are deserved! The eight-page document contains information about In digit 7 you'll find It works perfectly with a segment display driven by MAX7219. In general, any microcontroller can be used to control this device, just follow the datasheet for the MAX7219. My order for more has been placed.
I love the product and the delivery was quick.
