With an ome meter, it's not easy to figure out what's going on.
Yes, depending on the size and location of the grounding lug in the box, as well as how the switch is installed, that would be the minimum size.

Each terminal should have two 6 awg wires. It's not made of cheap plastic, it's made of solid wood. This is a good, sturdy rotary switch. Each terminal could accommodate two 6awg wire leads. Because I was out of breakers and only had a 150 amp main breaker, I used this to split 240 amps from my I floor heat boiler. Because I already have a sub panel, this was the only way I could think of to get 240 into my garage. I ran a 6awg extension cord out to the welder and wired it up to an outlet. It was an excellent solution. Currently, 0 is turned off, 1 represents garage 240, and 3 represents the boiler. Because the boxes these are supposed to fit in are out of stock everywhere, I used a standard electrical box as well. It's a Menards 18-dollar electrical box with 1-inch and 3/4-inch cutouts that worked perfectly after I drilled holes in it. I'm not sure if I'm breaking any rules; I'm sure I am, but I don't mind right now.
Switching between RV battery/inverter/solar power and shore 50Amp service power is a breeze with this device. With the extra contacts, I was able to add more features to the power switchover with this switch unit.
This was used to change the 220 volt circuit from the air compressor to the welder. The switch is sturdy and has a good feel to it, the clamps are tight so the 6 gauge wires don't fall out, and the installation in the box cover was secure. The only complaint I have is that the instructions call for dimensions for a different switch, so measure the switch before drilling holes in the cover plate or you'll be screwed.
For a DC to DC converter with a 40A output, I used this to switch the input source between two different 12 V inputs. The design is fantastic, and it's incredibly simple to operate.
So far, it's been great. It would have been nice if it had included some small mounting screws. Others might have a difficult time finding it, but I had a stash from years of electrical work.
Fantastic product that is simple to set up.
It was ideal for the job I needed it to do.
It's difficult to judge the size of the image because it's much larger than I expected.
