Neither I nor any of my friends have had any problems with standard 9 volt batteries.
Unlike most types of switches, these units have a single throw and a single pole. Wire a lead from either the positive or negative side of the power, and wire it to one pole of the switch, and then connect the wire from the other pole of the switch to the load (lamp, motor, etc.). A switch is attached to a wire by cutting the wire and inserting it where the opening is.
An on/off switch and a battery harness are all it needs. I think this approach would work, but it won't control volume if you're just looking to create a break in the circuit.
Both DC and AC channels can be controlled by this switch. The switch is rated at six amps at 250 volts AC. In my case, it serves as an on/off switch for a 5 volt dc power supply hooked up to 115 volts AC.

The switch was the best value I could find for a switch this small. I used them to switch a 12v DC power supply and they worked great. It's hard for me to speculate how long they'll last, but they seem to be standard quality for these small pieces of electronic equipment.
This is what I bought my son to do a lower budget science project during the rona while we're out of school. I was very impressed with how good these were for the price. A total of 15 switches and 5 battery terminals are located in this box. Despite that, it is no big deal to us. There is a nice tactile feel to the switches, and they are easy to operate.
My favorite thing about them is how small they are, and how well-maintained they appear to be.
The perfect size to switch the GameCube BIOS region. The size of the object needs to be altered, but if it were any larger it would not.
The switches were solid and do the job. I ordered one, but ended up with a whole bunch for about the same price.
