This was combined with a three-light lamp. It was either 1) off, 2) one light on, 3) first light off and other two lights on, or 4) all three lights on. 2) It did not turn off the light as effectively as turning off the power and turning on the other two lights. There were one off and three different on configurations, as far as I understood how it worked. Having said that, I don't believe it will meet your needs.

I apologize, but I'm not sure what you're asking. I'll demonstrate how the switch works by comparing its operation to that of a lamp. Let's say you have two lightbulbs in your lamp that need to be powered. Your first setting will only turn on bulb 1 while leaving bulb 2 off. Bulb 1 will be turned off when you turn the switch back on, but bulb 2 will be turned on. Both light bulbs will now be turned on when the switch is turned to the third position. I hope this information is useful.
There is no way to remove the brass cap.

This small switch could not be found in any of the big box stores. In less than ten minutes, I was able to save my floor lamp from the trash. I opened the lamp, took out the old switch, and reassembled it. Unfortunately, it took two tries because I needed to adjust the depth of the switch using the switch's nuts.
I recently replaced the three-way switch in my wonderful 1980s Stiffle lamp. br>It's a heavy solid brass table lamp, which Stiffle was famous for at the time. br>This is in excellent condition and fits and functions perfectly. It is very simple to replace. It appears to be the same three ways that the lamp had.
It's a strange switch in that you have to press down on the know to get it to work. br>br>However, it appears to be unavailable in your area, so Amazon is a godsend. br>br>Be sure to photograph the old switch before disassembling it, as these can be difficult to get right.
