The dryer of a friend broke down. She had a technician come out for her at her expense. fix it. (the more expensive fix would have been to replace the motherboard, which would have cost around $250) After it was not fixed, a service call was made. $250 for parts (I have no idea what he did). I'm not an electrician, but after a quick Google search, I discovered the problem. After that, I watched a video on how to make the repair (in a safe manner). $10. a hundred dollars for the part The dryer was back to normal after 20 minutes. It's been a month since we've last seen each other. There are none.
The relay could be replaced, according to one suggestion. Despite the video's assurance that "any housewife" could do it, I wasn't sure I could. I decided that $10 for a relay was preferable to $330 for a new motherboard; I did spend a little more on a solder gun and supplies, but it was still a lot less than $330. I wasn't sure it would work, but the dryer has been running for two weeks and is still going strong. Repairing is simple.
Arrived quickly after my dryer made a popping and sizzling noise and refused to start. After spending over $100 trying to find the entire board and finding it out of stock everywhere, I thankfully discovered a video that showed me exactly what to look for and what to buy. I can use my dryer again after paying $10 and waiting two days. It was a perfect fit and a breeze to put on.
This small piece of equipment allowed me to save a significant amount of money on a relatively simple repair. I did insure some additional costs because my soldering iron was very old and I had to buy a new one for 37 dollars.
On my whirlpool dryer, the code F01 came up. This part was ordered after watching a repair video on YouTube, and it worked perfectly. It's been soldered in and is working as it should. The only drawback was that my wife was dissatisfied because she had hoped for a new dryer.
This relay worked as a replacement for the one that had failed on my dryer control board. It was possible to avoid purchasing a new control board by using this method.
With a cheap iron, you can easily replace it. Rather than a board swap, I would recommend this.
However, as these various examples on YouTube demonstrate, it is not easy to replicate.
