To turn the motor, you connect the leads to v1, u1, w1, and turn the motor by hand. Unlike the spindle solution, this will not work on larger motors (greater than 30kw), as you are not able to generate enough voltage when spinning the rotor. I wish I would have read the listing better. My mistake, I read the listing better before getting it, it said that it is only good for 400 volts or less, which makes you think it is compatible with 480 3 phase, but it is.
A licensed fire sprinkler contractor, I purchased this safety tester a few days ago. I have used it for checking fire pumps and other big circulators, and it is proving itself to be quite useful. Almost every time I watch it, I feel so happy. There is no need to pay so much for other branded products. I think this is a good meter.
For the price, this is not a bad diagnostic tool.
It works perfectly and you can check rotation without using any power at all.
