Questions & Answers

Is there a Soyan Power version of the 4 kw vfd?

Mine was.

How much does this item weigh?

The net weight is approximately 1751 grams.

Is it possible to use this with a three-phase, 208-volt motor of appropriate size?

I believe it will work with a 208 volt motor because most 208 volt motors and 240 volt applications have the same windings and connections. The concern is that the motor will draw slightly more amps at 208 volts than at 240 volts, but as long as the motor is not operating at its maximum output, it should work. If you're not sure, order a size larger on the VFD.

Is this something that can be done with a 2? 2 kw, 220 volts, 60 Hz, 8 Is there a hydraulic press motor with a number of cylinders?

Yes, it will work in this situation. If a dynamic braking resistor is required for your application, it is not included, according to my knowledge.

Installing, programming, and using the Lapond VFD is simple
5/5

I wanted my Laguna 14 SUV bandsaw to be able to cut steel, brass, aluminum, and plastics in addition to wood, so I added variable speed capability. The saw was originally equipped with a single-speed 3hp 220V single-phase motor that provided blade speed suitable only for woods. br>br>I replaced the saw's original motor with a 3hp three-phase, two-pole Lapond SVD-100. PS2. 2GB 2. I bought a 2kw 220V 3hp Variable Frequency Vector Drive on Amazon to get the variable blade speed capability I needed. I also purchased an external potentiometer and case to provide higher speed setting resolution than the pot installed on the VFD could provide. br>br>As shown in the attached image, the total number of VFD parameters that needed to be changed for this installation is relatively small. Those that provide direct motor rpm display on the VFD are among these modifications. It should be noted that the value in parameter P7 is not the same as the value in parameter P6. The number 06 must equal zero. 6 for a two-pole three-phase motor (3600 rpm at 60 Hz) and 0 for a single-pole three-phase motor. 3 for a four-pole, three-phase motor (at 60Hz, 1800 rpm). Using a hand-held tachometer on the motor shaft, I double-checked the motor rpm against the displayed value.

Research suggested that a typical 3phase motor can be oversped by about 25%, corresponding to 4500 rpm at a frequency of 75Hz. I chose to leave some room for error, so I set the maximum frequency to 72Hz, which corresponds to 4320 motor revolutions per minute. The controls on the VFD are easily accessible, and the saw is equipped with a brake/kill switch pedal that controls power being supplied to the VFD in the event of an "emergency. " br>br>I did not add an external start/stop capability because the VFD controls are easily accessible, and the saw is equipped with a brake/kill switch pedal that controls power being supplied to the VFD in the event of an "emergency. " Aside from that, the Lapond VFD panel's RUN/STOP buttons are easy to use. br>br>For my bandsaw, I created a plot of blade speed vs. motor rpm using some simple calculations, as shown in the attached image. The last attached image shows recommended blade speeds for various materials. Using the external high resolution potentiometer, you can easily and precisely set the motor rpm, and thus the blade speed. br>br>At the moment, the Lapond VFD is performing admirably. The cooling fan only turns on when the motor is running, and even then it is very quiet, barely audible above the motor and saw/blade system noise. Even though parameter P0 is set to 4,320 rpm, the VFD brings the blade to a complete stop in about 3 seconds. The timer for number 17 has been set to two seconds. I'm not sure if the 14-inch cast iron wheels and 125-inch-long, 1-inch-wide Laguna Resaw King blade overwhelm the VFD's internal braking system, but when the motor rpm is set to 4320 rpm, it takes longer than 2 seconds for the blade to come to a complete stop. br>br>I didn't need Lapond's technical assistance, so I can't comment on their customer service. br>br>I haven't used the saw much since installing this system, so I don't know how long it will last. I'll keep you updated if any issues arise. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>I installed a braking resistor (purchase The bandsaw, with its 14-inch cast iron wheels and large blade, now comes to a complete stop within the time limit set by Parameter P0-. The system would take up to six seconds to come to a complete stop from 3600 motor RPM before the braking resistor was installed. It will now come to a complete stop at that speed within one second. The resistor becomes quite warm to the touch when repeatedly stopped at 3600 RPM. br>br>In my original review, I failed to mention that I had installed a high-resolution potentiometer. The potentiometer I bought on Amazon allows me to adjust the resistance from 0 to 5K ohm by rotating the dial about 300 degrees. The potentiometer's pins are labeled 1, 2, and 3 on the potentiometer. I connected the pot's Pin 1 to GND, Pin 2 to AI1, and Pin 3 to the Lapond VFD's 10V lugs. This results in a frequency that is close to zero at pot position 0 and whatever maximum frequency is specified in P0-. 08, P0- 10, as well as P0- 12 at 100th position in the pot. br>br>I installed the potentiometer into a case, which I also bought from Amazon and can be found at It was necessary to drill the case to fit the potentiometer. Plastic was used to construct the case. The case's cover is transparent, and the case's base is tan. To avoid cracking, I used brad point drill bits and a drill press set to a very slow speed (200 rpm) with backing blocks of wood. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> August 21, 2020br>I've had this Lapond VFD on my Laguna 14SUV Bandsaw for over a year and a half (approximately 40 hours of actual use). After all, it's just a pastime! ) and had great success. The VFD is still working perfectly. It has given me a lot of pleasure.

For at-home use, this is a fantastic little device
5/5

3-D printing in the home industrial gear in phase This is a fantastic little variable frequency drive. It was purchased to power a two-horsepower, three-phase Rockwell Delta Unisaw from the 1950s. Removed the mag switch (you don't want a switch between the VFD and the motor) and connected L1-L2 to the VFD. > "U", L2- > "V" and "L3-" are two words that come to mind when thinking of the letter > "W". In my case, I also had to replace my original power cord, which was far too short for the VFD's specifications. It started spinning as soon as I plugged it in! (Though at a snail's pace) br>br>All I can say is that you should read the manual. After that, go over it once more. Then experiment with it and read it a third time; the manual is fantastic for this type of part and its history. It's quite thick, and you might think it's because it's written in several languages, but it's all written in English. There's a lot of functionality covered in there. br>br>Overall, I was pleasantly surprised by the price, functionality, and documentation. The fan, as others have stated, is quite loud, but it is quieter than the saw that is running. If I get another three-phase machine, I'd definitely buy it again.

So far, I've been very impressed! I placed an order for the 1
5/5

For my Boxford metal lathe, I use a 5kw VFD. I obtained a copy of the "SVD-" manual in PDF format. User- Manual. pdf" (you can find it by copying and pasting the file name) which made things much easier, as the paper one that came with the unit is quite small and not the easiest to read (due to its age). I had already pre-wired my lathe and motor for the vfd, as well as the emergency stop buttons and door safety switches. The VFD installation went smoothly, and in about an hour, I had the lathe up and running. I built a remote pendant so I didn't have to touch the VFD during machining after running the lathe and adjusting a few settings, which was fairly simple using the Pdf manual and the device's keypad. This has worked extremely well, and adjusting the settings to accommodate the pendant was a breeze. I've done a few machining jobs on the lathe since it was installed, and I'm very pleased with its performance so far. In the near future, I'll be purchasing a second one for my second lathe, as well as a bandsaw. The VFD is now in its own vented enclosure with a clear front, as shown in the attached photo taken during setup.

Customer service is the best I've ever seen! This is where I keep my 2nd drive
5/5

On my DIY CNC Router, I have a 2KW spindle. The instruction manual is very detailed, but it is written for technicians and engineers. This is way above my pay grade. I emailed the seller with my setup (Mach4 with Ethernet Smooth Stepper) and asked if they could assist me in setting up the drive; the next day, I received an easy-to-understand wiring schematic customized to my system, complete with programming details. I was completely taken aback by the experience. If I had the option, I'd give it six stars. An aside: If you order the remote control head (as I did), keep in mind that the speed adjust knob is not included. You can simply program and turn on/off from a distance. I did not order the offered cable because the remote head connects with a standard Ethernet cable, which I already had.

Excellent value for money
5/5

For the money, it's a great deal. I bought a 3 hp 3 phase air compressor for my home shop and am using one of these to power it. In my line of work, I work with a lot of VFDs. Automation Direct is the cheapest (about half the price), and while I wouldn't recommend it for a critical industrial application just yet, it appears to work well for home use. The manual is lengthy, but if you're used to this type of thing, you'll find everything you need. In about six months, I'll make an attempt to remember to update this post. br>br>(after ten months, edit): I have a vertical mill that I've been running on an antique Altivar vfd that recently died, so I'm going to order another one of these for the mill. I still wouldn't use one of these for a mission-critical application, but they're fine for occasional or home use.
