It does the job it was designed to do

There are times when my air conditioner causes a power surge when I turn it on after it has been off for a long time. Since I keep a stash of them on hand, I keep them readily accessible. The simple nature of them means that they always work, so it's no surprise that they do. I suspect they also blow out when they are supposed to, which is good news. For a unit as powerful as my air conditioner, 30 Amps is on the low side, so I can understand why it blows occasionally.

We had a problem with our AC a few years ago. These fuses have been replaced by an electrician. The problem has been The next time we did it ourselves, we saved about $200 (we found out that the electrician had actually replaced the fuses with used ones, which causes them to fail twice in three years).
