The answer is yes. In simple terms, this TV was designed to enable the same image to be visible for 8 hours or more without getting burnt. A menu display is similar to what restaurants use. As a smart TV, it doesn't combine any smart features you would find on a standard TV, unless you are looking for extreme burn-in protection. It is possible to find much better home TV options at a better price.

Because they state it can be flipped into portrait mode, Amazon and the seller need to confirm that the QAs have been completed on this product. There is no truth to that. In addition to spending an hour trying to figure out the problem, I also had to spend an hour with Samsung on the phone before they realized this BE49R (and possibly BE43R) display has no This was one of the reasons we bought it, so it was very disappointing.
