Questions & Answers

Hello! Is that a right-hand or left-hand tool?

I'm not sure what you're asking, but the Helicoil insert accepts right-handed people. Tighten hand threaded bolts by turning clockwise from the bolt's head (top).

Is it true that the helicoils are made of stainless steel? Rex, what are you saying?

Steel that is made of carbon

I'm not sure what size drill bit I'll need for this kit. ?

For the 3/8-inch diameter, A 25/64" bit is used for 24 helicoil.

What is the size of the tap that comes with the package?

The tap size is customized to the exact size required to tap the helicoil hole. To compensate for the insert, the TPI will remain the same, but the diameter will be slightly larger.

Save money by doing it yourself
5/5

This was the first thread repair I'd ever attempted. When putting the automatic transmission back on the engine, I stripped the threads on a torque converter to flex plate special nut. br>I used the drill size indicated (drill bits not included in the kit, would be a boon if they were), tapped the coil thread with the included tap, and then inserted one of the included Heli-nuts. Coil thread repairs were made, and the flex plate bolt was torqued to its 35-foot limit. lb. There are no issues with the specification. br>The nut I stripped on the 57 Chevy powerglide torque converter was a custom-made part that would have cost more than $75 to replace. Only one seller had them, and I was able to fine him. As a result, I was able to save a significant amount of money. br>I now have the tool for any future FUBARs that are that size and thread type, as well as 11 more coils. br>The repair was simple and straightforward; I'm glad I bought it instead of hiring a machine shop to do it. br>I never got a firm price from jobbers to do it, but I believe they wanted around the same price as this kit cost me, and now I have the tool in my inventory.

Torque was too much for it to handle

I went through the process of drilling out the hole, tapping it, and installing new threads, only to discover that the new threads couldn't withstand the bolt's required torque of 50 ft/lbs, and it stripped out once more!.

Works! It was reasonably priced and completed the task

While tapping the hole, use a small amount of oil. For each full turn of new thread, I completely backed out the tap. There are no issues.

The drill bit is not included in the package

I was pleased to discover that Helicoil inserts, which I used at work many years ago, are still a simple way to repair "wallowed out" threads. I was disappointed to discover that the kit lacked an appropriate drill bit (25/64-inch). inch diameter) for the tap that comes with it - We don't all have full sets of SAE 64th-generation engines. drill bits with a graduation of one inch I used a 1/64th-inch drill bit because I was working with thick but soft aluminum. 1/8-inch drill bit (3/8-inch drill bit) The taping and insertion of the Helicoil holes went smoothly. Although the price is a little high, the repair was much less expensive than replacing the item that needed to be repaired. This book comes highly recommended.

Strong in every way

As the material holding our golf bags on the pull cart wears out and begins to shred, we use this Helicoil to replace it. We also used it to replace the pencil and scorecard holder on the top of our pull carts, which is identical to what was originally on the carts.

I was able to avoid having to pay for the repair of because of your help. This is an excellent tool. saved me from having to replace a $1000 set of ssbc calipers after the bleeder screw stripped out (what a stupid design to have a stainless steel bleeder screw screwing into soft aluminum).
