Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how long the bit is in total? It's difficult for me to know how deep to ?

In the bit's dimensions, there is a 3/4" diameter and a 5/8" length, with a 2-inch length of carbide. The length of this product is 3/8".

During the cutting process, can the depth be adjusted?

To guide the cutting area, you use a template you make to guide the top bearing of this bit. If the width of your template is different from the depth, you can adjust it.

In how much of a vertical cut has the cut been made?

It looks like the cutter will be about 11/16" wide or 18 mm deep once it's established, though you can keep drilling deeper once the bearing establishes the cut

I really like this bit for cutting bowls
5/5

Here is my first bowl cutting and the first time I have made dark walnut cigar ashtrays for A lot of reviews I saw stated that people bent/broke cheaper bits because the shanks were thinner. The bit I got didn't need to be super expensive, so I figured it would be fine. I'll give you the quick and dirty It is not worthwhile to buy a cheaper part than this one unless you are certain you will regret it later. A few pros Even while plunge cutting, the blade cuts well. Please note Bearings at the top make it possible to use The disadvantages are I find the best results when I run my router at its lowest In other words, material removal can take a long time. My overall impression of this product is that it functions perfectly for the purpose I had in mind. Certainly the material removal was slower than I would have liked, but now and then that is to be expected when plunge carving. My router has a turret stop and I did a few passes with it. In my experience, I have found this product to be very impressive and I recommend it. It is especially helpful if you are unsure whether or not the cheaper option is right for you. This one is easier to order and will save you the headache of a hospital visit.

Typical Whiteside router bit
5/5

Whiteside router bits are the best. This model is exceptionally sharp and would last for many years because the carbide material is the best, and it is made into 21 special cutting boards with dished out centers and is still sharp after many years.

This program does the job correctly
5/5

You will need a 1/2" shank if you are going to cut bowls or candy dishes. Keep the shank short if you want to do it with 1/4" otherwise, vibrations will cause problems and could be harmful. Those bits I have had for years still work well now since they have been coated with a good carbide.

There is no comparison between Whiteside router bits and other brands
5/5

There is no doubt that Whiteside router bits are the best. Cherry, walnut, and quartersawn oak have no problem being chewed up by this bit. I should have a bank of Shaker built-ins 23 feet long and six and a half feet high by the end of this week. In this section of built-ins, I used a router bit set from Whiteside Shaker to cut the raised panels for the 28 doors. Figures for these projects can also be found in the Fine Woodworking, October 2011 issue. This premium cherry did not pose any problems to the bit set. This is a tough piece from Whiteside.

Instead of a bowl cutting bit, I received a straight cutting For me, this was a complete waste of time. I am not happy at all.

It is of great quality
5/5

It's never been a bad Whiteside bit for me. I am satisfied with how it worked. Most likely, it will still be working excellently in several years.

It took me a long time to notice the first bit was bad because I am a novice woodwooker
3/5

My technique is incorrect, not sure what to do. A few days a week I get four or five It has gone through five bowls and all the bearings are fried. It took me a long time to notice the first bit was bad because I am a novice woodwooker. As soon as I hit the second bit, one of the bearings started sparking, Until I get a new bearing, I only have a half-finished bowl. In most cases, buying a third bit is cheaper than purchasing two.

There is an apparent lack of bearing seal on the item
3/5

A bearing seal was missing and was found by the husband when he attempted to use the bit. This item will therefore be returned to the store. To resolve this issue, he would like to make contact with Lifestyles by Focus ahead of time.
