I bought a $20 pack of these bits with no expectations. After a 10-hour hardwood (cherry) 3D carve, the first bit held up exceptionally well. I used the same tool, but as an end mill, to cut out some laser cutting designs from 1/8" plywood, and it was still sharp after that. The sharpness of the bit hasn't faded. If the other four bits in the pack hold up as well as this one, the $20 price tag is a bargain.
So far, everything has gone well. They don't lose their sharpness quickly and last for a long time. This set's current bit has been in use for more than 30 hours and is still going strong. It's been used for hardwood rather than metal, and it's held up well.
For my purposes, these tapered ball nose bits are ideal. I've bought a few SpeTool bits for my CNC and they've served me well. I'll continue to buy their products as long as they maintain the same high level of quality.
The point is very fine and sharp. It's ideal for engraving and fine wood detail. It's enabled me to add a lot more detail to my carvings without having to worry about tearing them out.
So far, I'm impressed with my first cut.
In a Shapeoko CNC, it does an excellent job for the price.
Bits have a fine point and are strong enough to cut wood without breaking.
