JUNK, they split down the middle and fail. I've used OScarbide tools in the past, but the quality is poor. I ordered five extra tips, and the first three all failed within minutes of cutting at a slow feed rate and 70 rpms on the lathe with full coolant flowing on the part. br> The carbides simply explode. The first one refused to cut at all and screamed like a cat trapped in a boiler. The tool holder was torn up when the insert completely failed. br> The next two were simply split in half, as shown in the photos. The parting was completed with a sharpened and centered HSS steel China Parting 5/8 bit. It sliced through the stainless steel like butter, leaving ribbon chips in its wake. I've been machining for a long time, but when Chinese HSS blades cut better than carbide and don't explode, it's a game changer. The last carbide tip to blow up flew past my head and landed 12 feet behind me in a piece of wood cabinet. I'm not going to buy any more OS carbide tools. br>br>Waste of money and time for me.
It really works. Unlike HSS parting tools, it does not bend or break. However, this one won't be able to go very far.
That thin hss parting tool works a lot better. The blades are smooth and don't wobble during the cutting process.
In my benchtop lathe, this tool is perfect. Because I don't always have time to grind an edge on HSS, I needed something that had an insert. There is no chatter, and unlike other inserts I've tried, this one stays put:.
This is a high-quality tool that will serve me well.
I'd buy them again because they do the job. Thanks.
good.
So far, this tool holder has exceeded my expectations. It's well-made and sturdy, and the included insert does the trick.
