In order for this bar to fit into a 5/8" or larger hole without modification, it needs to be drilled. It is 625. This is a really boring bar, but I would highly recommend it.
Despite the fact that I didn't think much of the inserts that came with this bar, it all worked perfectly. This tool has been used in a variety of applications including stainless steel, carbon steel, I have experimented with nickel (different surface speeds, of course) with satisfactory.
It is disappointing. This tool is well machinable, but why is the cutter slanted down so This is why. According to the listing, the piece is 3/8" thick, but it's The cutter slant reduces its effectiveness even further. If you are under stock size, you must elevate a minimum of 3/16" inch to even approach center line. This is confusing. These oscarbide tools are just as legitimate as my other ones. With respect to the centerline, the cutter is angled downward by Because the cutter is bottomed out in a 5/8" bore, it cannot engage. I'm so sad to hear that.
It is ideal for the task at hand. The tool fits in a 3/8" holder and performs.
Our company has used these for several projects, and they were just as advertised. Only thing that makes these tools low cost is the weak screw heads. Quality is fine, but the only downside is the weak screws. A replacement screw has already been found since I could tell that the screw head was about to peel off, when I tightened it.
I like the bar, but it's boring. The system does what it is supposed to do.
A set of extra cutters is included.
It's a good product.
