In drilling 9/16th holes, the bit has a diameter of 9/16th. It seems I do not understand what you are asking.
These people are asking about There is work being done with these bits other than drilling a hole. As with gun barrels, threading things is essential.
When you ask about cutting a GUN barrel down, these barrels aren't meant for finished INSIDE dimensions, but if you can find one that is actually 5/8" INSIDE and very clever, you may be able to do it. It may not be what you intended. If it is not what you want, please clarify.

The hunt for a magnum finally paid off, and I acquired one Recently, I have slowly been purchasing annular cutters as I need them. In the beginning, I bought Jancy Sluggers, but decided to give these a try because they are highly rated and somewhat less expensive. I like that they come with pins without having to hunt through the listings, because having those separately is a pain (and typically expensive). The cutter I purchased was used to gang drill 1/2 plate (4 strips, so 2" at a time, and yes the cutter I purchased went to a 2" depth). In spite of drilling a total of 16 inches of steel, the cutter did not chip or even discolor any of the teeth. In fact, I used cutting oil (and yes, it is required if you are not familiar with machine tooling). Not anything too specific, just some good general purpose cutting oil I had on hand. When you gang drill as I did, you have to remove the slugs from layers as you go. The last bit of the cut remains on the slug and will not cut when the annular cutter spins in the hole. This cannot be prevented My first impression of these cutters is quite good, and I'd subsequently look into more of these if I needed them in the future.
My job of drilling holes on A36 steel was much faster with this tool than with traditional drill bits. Creating a fixturing table with 1" Steel top would have been ideal, but while I would have preferred if it had been a long Hawg bit, which makes centering easier for an older style Mag Base, this is not too shabby either.
I drilled 128 holes in 1/8 inch steel with this cutter in less than an hour using my milling machine, and the cutter is still in excellent condition.
Drilled just two 1 1/2 inch holes in the side of the bucket of an excavator. A constant stream of drilling fluid is fired. It was sliced like.
Breaks on first hole, used the Hougan and Slugger well. Two of these broke on the first hole, so it isn't a one-shot kill The experience of being on the off.
It worked flawlessly and the price was reasonable.
Much better than a local one of similar cost that I purchased.
