With the help of this Shank, I was able to adapt a Wen Drill Press to use annular In one inch thick steel plate as well as various other items, I cut 16 holes. I appreciated the way the shank is milled precisely and the way it worked. This is not self cooling, but I cooled my bits with spray penetrating oil and it worked fine. I can pop this out once I'm done and use the Jacobs chuck whenever I want. One suggestion, these will collect dust by friction, so keep them To protect the equipment from dust or corrosion, keep it in a baggie or plastic box when not in use.
To "bore" a 2" hole in an aluminum bar, I used the tailstock of my lathe with a 2" cutter. A 2MT to 3MT sleeve worked perfectly for me, so I had to use a 3MT sleeve instead. I really liked the way it worked for my purposes.
I like it a lot. I used it on my drill press to cut annular grooves. I have no problems with it.
