If you want to enlarge any kind of hole you shouldn't use an annular cutter. As a result of the aggressive tooth design, it would be almost impossible to center, since it would try to walk around without contact from the pilot pin. You will not be able to visualize an end-point without an extremely accurate end-point In a mill, such as a boring mill, you would probably be better off using a twist drill or straight flute carbide bit if the material is really hard.

It's just too good to be true

This is the first time I have used a cutter of this type. I drill more than my fair share of holes with my Jet drill press and these things just can't be beat. I keep them cool through the middle with antifreeze and they don't get hot. In less than 45 seconds, a 1" hole can be drilled through a 1/2 AR50 plate.

A limited amount of use resulted in the explosion

This could have been a defective cutter, but the hole blower stopped working after the first 20 A mag drill with coolant was being used to drill steel with a coolant. It shouldn't have been a problem.

I am happy with the way it worked for my application

Using the Annular Cutter for my application was a great experience. In aluminum that is 1/2 inch thick, I needed to drill a number of holes of 1 inch diameter. It took me a few minutes to hold the metal and create the hole with my small mill.
