I planned to use it while surfing at a beach to keep my car keys locked near the hitch hook. When asked if the compartment is large enough to hold a car key with a fob, only a few people said yes. My car keys, however, would not fit, as I discovered after delivery. The lock's guts protruded far too far into the compartment from the cover, and the lock wouldn't close with the keys inside. br>br>The key is for a KIA Forte 5 vehicle, and it's a typical swivel design. br>br>I'm replacing this lock with one that has a cylindrical compartment and is said to be more spacious.

Any kind of lock box should be avoided. My vehicle was stolen the first time I used it. They simply popped open the cover with a screwdriver. I grabbed my keys and got in my car. Thefts are attracted to these magnets when they see them on cars or houses, according to police, because they can be easily broken with a screwdriver.

My landscapers delivered mulch for the new season and used my hidden key to destroy my fake sprinkler system head, so I ordered this. I needed a more secure option anyway, and since I don't have a sprinkler system, that single head seemed suspicious. Plus, if I ever need to direct someone into my house, it'll be much easier to give them a code than to send them into the bushes. This lock box comes with screws and mounting hardware, which we did not use. Instead, I attached the lock box to the back of my basketball goal. Ironically, because it's adjustable, we have a lock on it; my husband didn't want anyone else to be able to adjust it because he was afraid they'd mess up and break it. He's picky, but he's not wrong, and the good news is that this key box fits right in with the rest of the ensemble. However, because it isn't the sprinkler concept that is required, blending isn't completely necessary. It came with detailed instructions, was simple to program, and is simple to operate. This is the ideal storage solution for my spare key, but it's also large enough to accommodate a garage door opener.

This key box is large and heavy, as I would expect for a product of this nature. If you attempted to break or remove this box, I believe you'd have to first break the doorknob off. br>br>I installed it on a doorknob for my purposes, so it's very simple to set up; After you've set your code (which is a simple process in and of itself), simply pop out the shackle by releasing a strong spring latch on the inside. Then simply snap it back into place over your doorknob. The shackle is secured by a lock. If you need to remove it temporarily for some reason, it's easy to do so. The back of the box has foam on it to prevent it from scratching your door or doorknob, in addition to the rubber covering the shackle. If you want to screw it into a wall, it comes with all the necessary hardware, as well as silicone plugs for the shackle holes. br>br>Right now, I'm using it on a locked supply closet door on the inside of my building, and it's working just fine.

Cons: A little rough on the hook latch. br>br>Thinking outside the box, I purchased this as a children's toy to aid in number recall and to give me something new to try. We'll use it when he's finished with it in the future. The dial has easy-to-read numbers and grooves to aid his small fingers. The hook latch is a little rough, but the opening latch is simple. It's not a big deal because I don't think he'll move the lock much. br>br>Changing the combination is simple; it came with 0000 as a default. If you need to mount it, it comes with mounting hardware, as well as watertight plugs for when the hook is removed. In any case, it's a good learning toy/tool for my child.

They responded quickly and resolved my issue by guiding me through the process of opening the lock, and when that failed, they promptly replaced it.
