Questions & Answers

painted wood be treated with this?

In a way, yes. It is necessary to scrape away any rotting or damaged wood that is exposing bare wood in order to use the scraper correctly. This product has been used for several years to restore rotted exterior window sills. The repairs and repainting still look good two years after they were first done. I like what I read!

Is it necessary for me to pre-register What do I need to do after I have removed debris from my rotted wood pockets before filling them ?

Please do not prepare ahead of time You deserve it. Take advantage of this opportunity to ensure that you have removed as much rotted wood as possible. Once the A and B solutions have been mixed, apply them as instructed. As the RotFix hardens and strengthens the area, it is amazing to observe. I like what I read! This is also true for SculpWood, which you can use to patch or rebuild. The product is another great one.

The resin needs a certain amount of time to dry?

My last use of it was last summer, so I do not recall how long it took to dry each step. I sure was sanding and shaping the repairs a day or two after the repair was made. I must say, though, great stuff. I did not have to replace rotten wood, saving me a lot of money. As soon as the repair is painted, you cannot see any evidence of it.

Does this product contain borate in order to kill the fungus causing dry rot?

This is another product called Boracare. Board Defense is another product like that. This latter option is more appealing to me. Let the area dry thoroughly after treatment with Boracare. A moisture content of not more than 15%. Use rotfix epoxy to seal the crack.

Termite and rot damage can be repaired easily with this product
5/5

Here are two key tips to make the process of doing your job faster and easier for you. After achieving positive results with the EndRot kit, I purchased this product. As a result of termite damage to my window sill and frame, I am very satisfied with the results. Below are two tips that will make your life easier The following are some examples of In one of the videos, it is mentioned that you can apply the SculpWood after RotFix has dried. This is an opportunity you shouldn't miss You can quickly complete the job with this method, and you can get the SculpWood to stick to the wood deep into every crack and crevice. The following are the main points of The instructions state that you should build up the SculpWood putty above the surface of your repair. When the 12-hour mark comes, wait Carve away the excess with a sharp chisel after 24 hours. Compared to sanding after it has dried, this is much faster and easier. As of this point, it is comparable to a raw potato You can carve with a chisel simply by ramming it against the excess material and shaping it as you desire.

This kit does not include a mixing bottle
3/5

It is false advertising for me to write a review because I don't usually do that. We purchased this product over a less expensive competing product because this product came with a mixing bottle that had a hand pump My goal was to create a measure (their words) that would allow me to mix only what I needed. Although the mixing bottle is no longer included in the listing, they are still stating it will be on There is no room in the box for the mixing bottle, so this was not an oversight. The way things look here, they are trying to save some money. For the reason that the item was not as described, I will be returning the item to amazon. There is a good chance the shipping both ways will cost them significantly more than the bottle itself. As a result, I am purchasing the competing product that contains a mixing bottle (hopefully) as I use the PC Products 240168 PC-08 mixing bottle. Terminator Rot. I will have the product delivered quickly enough that it won't slow down the project. Thanks to Amazon.

The fact that it could be easily molded to fit was appealing to me
5/5

In order to restore wood rot in an exterior deck, I used two different epoxy products. My favorite aspect of this product was the ability to mold it to fit vertical defects easily and the fact that it We were able to clean up very quickly after the party, and it was not messy at all. Painting it looks great. Sanding it well made it look great. In the past, I have used a pretreatment but I liked it less than a product I found later and will discuss shortly. A squeeze bottle of pretreatment cannot be applied directly from the bottle because it has to be mixed. In the end, I mixed it in small cups with syringes and applied it with disposable brushes to some deeply penetrated As well as using Bondo, I used a wood filler and a hardener produced independently. In part because it was soupier, it worked great on horizontal surfaces. Despite the messier nature of the Bondo, it is much harder to remove. Despite the defects, the sanding was good and the filler was nice. There was no premixing required for Bondo pretreatment, which came in a can with a brush embedded in its lid. I found this application to be very easy to use. I opened the can, and after using it for a couple of months, I poured the remaining liquid into an old glass jar to keep it fresh. The screw top lid also stuck itself shut after a few uses. The disposable brush was used several times before I had to dispose of it.

Worked very well for me
5/5

Having built boats for 25 years, I'm a Master Boat Builder. It was a constant struggle to prevent rot when working on wooden boats. Git would become a permanent product at the company It is rotten. Stopping rot in it's tracks is key to stopping dust from blowing into the house. The product would be able to convert the softest, punkiest rot into a solid material that can be worked with for added There was more to it than a quick fix that saved money on repairs. There was no other choice but to go with it. There is no difference between RotFix and RotFix, but RotFix is much more affordable. You will have to be more careful with this mixture as it is very thin and watery, so you will create a lot of.

Before you use this, you should make sure you have the cleaner listed in the instructions
4/5

In the corner of my house where the two walls met, rain beamed down the wall. It caused some rot. A porch lip and a wall are hit on the way to the house. After I ripped out all the rot, I used a hair dryer on cool heat for 6 hours on the area to dry it, and I then used a foam dauber to paint it. I think the directions are great, and it worked well. You must read the directions carefully before you use this product. If you need to clean up (paint thinner?) make sure you have it. Make sure you read any instructions (whatever they may be) BEFORE attempting to use! The squirt bottle and nossal should be cleaned with a nail dipped in the cleaner after use, or the whole kit would be useless since I assume you'll only mix up a small batch at a time.

Keeps rot at bay
5/5

This was purchased to repair some rot that had developed in several of our window sills at our house and in the In the process of repairing the rotten wood, I encountered several types of rot minor punky wood and a hole completely through the board. The hole had to be filled with epoxy putty, and the rest of the board just needed In the end, the wood became stable and could be painted easily. We are very satisfied with the result, but if you are going to use this in conjunction with epoxy putty to repair more severe rot, plan to let it cure for at least a day My attempts to do it all on one Saturday ended in a slimy mess as the rot repair liquid dissolved some of the putty. As it turned out, it has healed nicely, but if I were to do it over again, I would have waited longer in between treatments.

I am a fan of this
5/5

I am a fan of this. After having used it on three rotted window frames (constructed 1937) a few years ago with two other parts of the system, I was and am still very delighted by the results. Since it's my house, it's important to me. With great results, I am using it on water damaged subfloors, and some portion of the window walls (same 1937 house). It is recommended to use the paste or putty only at high temperatures (70F) and above, even though I understand it does not need to cure completely if you are going to use it as putty, or paste? I still don't have a fully cured result from my first coat on the sub floor. It took nearly two days to become non tacky. Due to the extremely low temperatures (F) of the high 50s and low 60s. It's true, I failed to read the obvious cure time details that were readily available. In a clear and obvious manner. The floor I am restoring is being done with the restorer and paste. I am top nailing the red oak strips that were original to the subfloor, and the nails sound like they are going into the old long grain wood that was available in those days. There is a THIN coating to this RotFix, so please take that into account from the get-go. There is not much it can do in the form of filling in cracks, but then again, it's not designed to be one. I believe there is a point where replacing wood with plastic may be a better alternative, but if you lack that knowledge, seek it out because it is in my opinion of great importance. Because I have been working on this for a very long time, I am qualified to decide whether to restore or replace.
