Yes, make sure to follow the dry time instructions, and if the epoxy you used to laminate the carbon fiber is cured, you'll need to sand it for adhesion.
Yes, this is commonly used to fill holes/gaps in wood tables, as well as great river tables.
We waited about 24 hours the first time, but made some adjustments. We waited about 4 hours between pours on our second project, which had a depth of 1/8" and was set but still tacky. Because it was tacky, the second pour was able to fill in any imperfections from the first pour, making it easier. I hope this information is useful.
You'll probably need about 3 quarts of mixed product. I did a 72 x 48 table and each pour took about a gallon. You'll need to do at least two pours, each separated by a few days. You will need to sand in between the two pours; I ended up doing three coats because I'm a perfectionist and the wood I was working with was very absorbent.br>I will warn you that while the finish is lovely and we've been using the table for a year and it's still holding up well, it is susceptible to heat damage, such as a hot coffee cup leaving a ring; it's only safe up to 130 degrees.

This was our first time working with epoxy, and it was a huge undertaking. A 10-foot-long, 3-inch-thick, 22-inch-wide slab of cypress served as the basis for our project. Mas epoxy was simple to mix and I doubt you could make a mistake with it. With the mica powder added to it, the river we poured was absolutely stunning. We then deep poured the entire board/bar after allowing it to dry. We underestimated the amount of epoxy we'd need because the deep pour caused the board to float, so we didn't expect to completely cover or encase the bottom as well. However, we ordered more and followed the instructions for a second pour, and our project turned out pretty well for our first attempt; my advice is to order two gallons if you think it will take one. It's preferable to have too much than too little. Six gallons were required for our project.
I decided to make something special for him because I couldn't bear the thought of giving them all away (I'm not sure why, but he kept them for 40 years). In the old table, I placed the marbles. I used MAS Tabletop Pro Epoxy Resin to coat it. Hardener. MAS Tabletop Pro Epoxy Resin is applied in two layers. Hardener. I used 2. For a 3X6 table, 6 gallons were used (the marbles were not completely flush). Following my purchase, I was sent installation instructions. When I had a question, customer service was extremely helpful. One topic that no one seems to be discussing is; THE EPOXY IS STICKY AFTER YOU MIX IT AND ARE READY TO USE IT! If you're a first-timer, make sure your space is protected; if it falls on your floor, it'll be difficult to clean (ask my cat who recently had her hair cut). Before you begin, I recommend that you read the instructions and watch a few videos. br>The results are stunning. The top of the table appears to be made of glass. br>If you're curious about the left-hand paw in the middle, it's the one in the middle. I painted one paw mark with a Sharpie before the second layer because the same cat who had her hair cut jumped on the table between the layers (I let her out of the room too soon).
To make a table top with square edges on the outside and a live edge in the middle, I ripped the flitch in half and turned both live edges into the center. It's referred to as a river table by some people. The wood had a thickness of two inches and a length of forty inches. I filled the live edge gap in several small pours, no more than a quart, because epoxy in small pours is very clear and bubble free.
Stop right there; there's no need to look any further! If you're looking for the best epoxy on the market, you've come to the right place. I've tried nearly every epoxy on the market, and this MAS Table Top Epoxy is by far the best: it's nice and thick, easy to mix, pour, and cures to a beautiful, crystal clear, super shiny finish! With this epoxy, you won't be disappointed.
Because I couldn't find any deep cast material for a river table, I purchased this epoxy. The finished product looks great, but this epoxy is a lot thicker than the others I've tried. It's definitely better for projects like table tops, which is what it's designed for. Because of the viscosity, releasing the trapped air is much more difficult. When you don't want the epoxy to level out too quickly and run all over the place, this product is ideal. Create an Amazon listing for your Deep Pour Epoxy.
This product was used in two different ways by me: The first project was a river table pour for a 4 x 2 foot coffee table with a 6-foot radius. This was a 7-inch moat that I did in 1/4-inch pours (with 2 hours between each pour) for a total of 5 pours for the 5/4ths-inch thick board, and it came out pretty well, with only a few bubbles left after using a heat gun. br>br>However, the second use, which occurred around 2-years-ago, was not as successful. The above project, which was completed three days later, did not go as planned. Using the last two-thirds of the two-thirds of a two-thirds I attempted to flood coat a section of the walnut wood board that had some flaws and deep divots as part of the materials. However, the resin did not harden sufficiently this time (despite following the exact same instructions as when it worked perfectly before), resulting in me ruining the piece of wood and having to scrape off the entire coat because it never set properly, rendering it unusable. br>br>In the future, I would only recommend the product if you are certain you will need this much volume all at once; Otherwise, I'm not sure I can trust leaving the epoxy hardener combo jugs on the shelf and expecting the same results with any leftover material.
The only problem I had was that my base color was not dark enough (my fault). The glossiness of the finish hardened quickly. It only took a few days to complete the project, and I am very pleased with the final result. I was happy with the outcome of my first attempt. Tap your plastic firmly and experiment with different color combinations.
Before the product arrived, I received emails with important instructions on how to work with it, how to prepare my project, and how to make sure I had the right working temperatures for a successful outcome. When the product arrived on time, it was accompanied by the same instructions as before, as well as phone numbers for help and reassurance. br>FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY! I've worked with epoxies before, and each one is slightly different. This was a fantastic project to work on!.
