Questions & Answers

The area it covers is what number of square feet?

Depending on how thick you lay it, it depends on how long it takes to dry. I used one gallon on 80 square feet the first time I used it. For the second time, I covered 80 square feet with 5 oz of thinner added to 1/2 gallon. Depending on how thick you spread the coating, it could be slimy or thick.

Do you think this would work over Minwax polyurethane (oil-based). I applied poly over the oil-based stain since I think it won't react well with it. Can you elaborate?

It takes about 24 hours for epoxy to go over them, but oiled-based paints require at least a week to dry completely. In the event of an oil spill In the case of oil-based paint, you need to apply three layers Earlier in the process, we applied an acrylic-based polyurethane to seal the surface before applying a seal coat of You would go over the oil if you were directly over it You run the risk of the epoxy not sticking to the surface and peeling off months later if you use a water-based paint and it is not completely dry.

Is it possible to avoid bubbles on bare wood surfaces by sealing them?

It is recommended to apply the product in two steps. It is often referred to as the seal coat stage. Seal coats consist of a small batch of epoxy brushed onto the surface in a thin layer in order to seal any porous areas and to prevent air bubbles from forming in the flood coats. Using our epoxy for both your flood and seal coats is a good option.

There is no need to freak out To cover an 11 x 11 inch area, I used this epoxy
5/5

A few feet. The table is filled with approximately 30 items. The equivalent of 1300 bottle tops. My first step was to read all instructions carefully, then mix what I thought was the right amount for the My first guess turned out to be completely wrong, and once I started pouring and realized that I did not have enough, I panicked and proceeded to eyeball multiple other batches and mix vigorously for a longer period of time than necessary. Despite following the instructions to a tee, I thought I had destroyed my project. Well, after following my horrendous attempt at following the directions meticulously, my project had cured very hard within 10 hours. **The next error I made was It would have taken two kit to completely cover all the bottle caps, so I bought only one. Despite the 10 hour re-order period, my kit was at my door in 2 days (clearly outside of the 10 hour window). The coating of the I mixed them together in their entirety (for 20 minutes though) and did one full coat since I am at this point just flinging caution to the wind. There was no difference between the first batch and the second batch 2 days later in regard to sanding or prep work. In reality, my project had the perfect smoothness, crystal clearness, rock hardness, and there were not a whole lot of bubbles that anyone would ever see unless they were staring at it from less than 6 inches away and looking very intently for issue. My guests might do this, but I don't anticipate them doing it. In any case, I am pleased with the results, and I am not trying to scare off any new epoxyers but to provide reassurance to those following the instructions. A possible example As a result, I do NOT recommend that you use this product the same way as Follow the directions as much as you can. My experience was apparently drastically different from those of other reviewers, so I just wanted to share what I learned.

The company was able to ruin my project early in the process
3/5

I ordered from them many times, but after I received a defective batch, they refused to replace it, despite the fact that I had documented the whole process and filmed it. A number of users raised similar concerns on Pro Marine's Facebook page, so they stripped me from those pages. A company that cannot back up their products is unreliable, and I cannot afford the risk of poor product on my work. I will not be buying from this company.

This is awesome, I love it! Epoxy resin was used to finish a coffee table being used outside and a bathroom counter top as well
5/5

To master the technique, it takes a little time, but the results are worth the effort. You can easily update countertops for a reasonable price by installing laminates. In the recent weeks, we have been working on a kitchen counters, our largest project. In the end, we bought the two For that, you can get a gallon kit. In order to get a better understanding of how to do counters, we used Stone Coat Countertops. If you plan to use this epoxy, it's easy to mix and has a relatively long working time. Make sure you do your homework before starting your project, since once you start you're committed. Do a few smaller projects first, like making a coffee table, before embarking on a more permanent project.

I was blown away by the result of this stuff on my first attempt
5/5

I was blown away by the result of this stuff on my first attempt. Several years ago, I made a resin table with embedded license plates. It turned out great. It is important that you read the entire manual before beginning the ordeal, no matter how difficult it may be. A lot of help was given to me. The following tips may be helpful In my case, I needed 4 gallons of product. (3ft by 3ft, 1/2 inch deep-- I needed 4 gallons of product. In two pours, each lasting 4 hours, I poured 1/2 gallon into two 10 gallon pails, both for 7 minutes each, and I poured that into each 14 gallon pail. Pour only thoroughly mixed product after scraping your mixing sticks -- do not scrape your mixing sticks during the pouring phase. 1) Choose only parts A and B - scrape only remnants of one or the other
3) Pour PART B into your mixing bucket before you add Part I can't imagine how much easier mixing will be.

The following are not suitable This product can withstand heat up to Very easy to use! Although I attempted to read the instructions before buying the product, I had the misfortune of not doing so up until after I purchased it
5/5

Here are a few things I learned from my mistake. In order to cure properly, it has to be used in an environment that is at least 75 degrees for the full 72 hour curing time. When I bought it in early March, I had to turn my heat up to an uncomfortably high setting in order to get it to As well, the product can only be used at temperature up to 135 degrees after it is properly cured. Due to this, it is less suitable to use as a countertop, which is the purpose for which I purchased it. A different formulation is available for sale that can be used in that way and has heat resistance of Considering that I need to add a final coat anyway, I will just purchase countertop epoxy to add as a final clear coat to the countertop. Even though each bottle has roughly half a gallon of liquid, you are still required to measure out the entirety of it even if you plan to use it completely. There were some people who had trouble with their mixture settings, and I suspect this is the cause. The amount of pigment for one gallon was just right at 3 ounces.

I like how it works
5/5

Simple to use and with very little odor, this product is perfect for the whole family. This product was used for final touches on my art projects, as well as for my resin work. It is clear and hard to the touch.

It has a beautiful finish, but be careful of the heavy coating on the The finish on our bar was beautiful
4/5

To seal the wood, always brush on a THIN coat when applying the first coat. In the instructions, until you reach the FAQ, it's not entirely clear how to proceed. As a result of pouring a first coat that was too thick, an area popped up, and I had to sand it down.

As long as you follow the right steps, you will achieve good results
5/5

Make sure your project is level on a waist-high surface with blocks underneath. You should not have any holes or gaps in your project. Make sure that epoxy is mixed at a ratio of 1 to 1, be careful. Combine well and stir for 5 minutes You should see a clear liquid after 10 minutes, bubbles are okay. Don't whip, simply let it sit. Ensure that you pour it evenly forward and backward. To spread the top quickly, I cut a triangle out of a plastic 4" spreader and then used scissors to make my own triangle notches. You can use the container to catch drips from the edges. Brush the sides of the vase with a nylon toothbrush. Then light your butane torch, and move slowly, popping the bubbles as close as possible without destroying them. This needs to be done every 10 minutes for an If epoxy is lost during leveling, scrape it from under edges and apply it to any areas that require some. 12 hours let it dry You can see it clearly like crystal clear water and it will feel like nail polish after 16 hours. This is very professional looking. Stir very well, and remember to mix as perfect as you can 1/1. The only negative aspect is that it is too expensive and there are fewer options.
