It was very easy to apply this caulking last fall and I'm glad it worked well. The Gorilla brand has worked out very well for me, and it seemed to be another high-quality product.
This spring, I went to Home Depot to pick up some more, so I can continue the project of refinishing my cabinets. This is the caulk I used on I was surprised to see that they weren't carrying it anymore. The reason now makes sense to me. Based on my inspection, I need to redo about 90% of the extensive caulking I did last fall. There seems to be a problem with the product forming a "skin" during the initial drying process. The solvents, then, can no longer escape through the "skin" that formed afterwards, and bubbles form. There is a high percentage of these bubbles that So I am having to repaint my caulking this year with a more typical high quality product that I am buying from Home Depot, and I have to remove a significant amount of it.
As a brand name and based on my prior experience purchasing other Gorilla products, I bought this product. Sealing the joints and grooves on my shiplap siding with this product has greatly improved my house's design. The main reason I chose this product was not only its reputation, but also that it is paintable and can withstand extreme weather conditions. When the temperatures are consistent and not so extreme in the late summer/early fall, I apply it then to aid in the curing process and prevent shrinkage, bubbles, and forming an outer layer during the curing process. As an introduction to the product, I was amazed at its consistency, stickiness, and ease of use. There were no problems with the application. Besides filling in evenly, the product dried consistently, and applying and using it was so easy. Prior to painting, I waited a couple of weeks to be sure that the paint had completely cured and that there were no I am sorry to report that this product failed to last even a Despite not having been used for a year, it has shrunk and cracked, cracking the paint as well. I was going for a candy cane-colored house, but now I have a barn red house with white pinstripes. That isn't what I was going for. All of it has to be scraped off and the house has to be painted In this case, there is no value in paying the most for something. You do not get what you pay for when you buy the most expensive product in its class. It's a waste of both It will take me a long time to renovate my Thousands of dollars have been wasted on my project. I have to redo the whole project.
In any case, I purchased some of this last year and the tubes were perfect. It applied perfectly as well. It is the first silicone I have used that has been so sticky. Well, I needed more so I decided to buy 6 because I have lots of applications I need it for now. Some of the six packs I got are the worst I've ever seen. This year, half of the tubes come out thicker than last year, but not as sticky as last year. I almost think it's jello in the last 1/2 because it's not very sticky and globby. This is odd. Upon receiving my 6 pack, I noticed a large rip in the bag which I was not expecting. The stickers are not sticking properly so I'm having to peel some of them off. **Update** I have received my replacements and they look and work the same as the originals. It seems the gorilla company produced a bad batch of something or other. Possibly the packages were frozen in shipment or had remained in the warehouse for too long. There is no way I can tell you. The half-way point We are able to use 3/4 of the tubes since they are During the last one and a half years The first 4 percent is gloppy, not sticky at all, and smells like vinegar oozing out in the water.
The products I thought were normally alright by Gorilla were not as good as they claimed. My oh my! I was wrong all along! When it comes out of the caulk I find it looks like glue. Its only flaw is its white color. Its only reason for getting 1 star is that caulking gun could barely move the thread on this product. In advertising, it is its color. However, if you haven't used Gorilla caulking then you ought to be able to rate it. Don't limit yourself to just one option. A half-used cartridge like this went straight to the trash after project completion.
I am not sure if I got a bad batch, but this product feels more like caulking than glue. Since it was really thick and dry, it was hard to apply with a Caulking gun. In an attempt to soften the tube, I ran some hot water over it, but it did not work and I do not GE brand silicone caulk is paintable, and I think the tubes may have been on the shelf too long. BTW the tubes were hard, and my guess is that they might have been on the shelf too long.
The product is great! There is no need to worry about the price. I could have gone to Loews and bought 10 tubes for the same price. Buyer.
I learned the hard way that you can't run it through with a wet finger. In the process of trying to clean it up and make a straight line, excess caulk caused some smears. It is very, very difficult to clean it For some reason, the color appears more gray instead of white on my shower tile. I believed this product would add a nice finish to my tub and tile, but it lowered the appeal of my new The results didn't live up to my expectations, especially since I paid a premium price.
My tube of toothpaste seemed almost too dry and solid to me, so I don't know if it was old. To get the caulk to flow from the gun, I had to apply excessive trigger pressure. Because of this, creating a smooth, consistent bead was impossible. The consistency of the smoothness was difficult to achieve. I ended up with a wavy finish when smoothing with a wet finger. Maybe there was a fluke going with Gorilla, as their products are great.
