I think this one is a dud. It was supposed to be a "next step up" from the blue/white version we gave our kids, but I am very disappointed based on that. Having said that, I am most concerned about the automatic shutoff feature. According to the instructions, the device will shut down after 5 minutes, but it typically takes between 2 and 4. After laying it down, it should take 3 minutes to wake up. Moreover, after a while, the filament starts backing out on its own, and the pen starts to cool down. When you adjust your work, you often have to set the pen down for a few minutes, and coming back to a cold pen is very frustrating. The thing dribbles all over the place even when set to the coolest temperature. It's stated on the instructions that this is normal, however on the blue/white versions this is not the case. As for the "advanced" features of this pen, they are probably simply a set of frustrations compared to the cheaper model.
