It will make a great difference. As soon as I started vacuuming with my Miele, the vacuum would emit a strong smell of dog. Changing the bags and small filters constantly didn't make a difference, no matter how many times I did it. After a while, I realized it was probably the filter in my vacuum that was giving off the odor, even though it didn't have a sticker showing it needed changing. As it turned out, it I was able to eliminate the dog smell immediately when I changed it out (we have a few large breed dogs). Changes the scent of the air of the room and is very easy to do!.
There's a strange sour smell that wafts up from my Miele canister vacuum every time I use it. In reading reviews of various filter types, I realized the bad smell was probably coming from vacuuming up pet hair, so I purchased these charcoal filters even though they were much more expensive than the regular kind. My first use of this filter didn't give me any odor at all, which was fantastic. I still smell the bad smell even though my dog does not shed a lot, so I have no idea why there is so much bad odor emanating from the vacuum exhaust. If I am only going to eliminate the smell by changing the bag after each vacuuming, then it would make more sense to buy cheaper filters.
As a result of this filter, this problem has been solved entirely. The price seems a bit high for a filter, but it's worth every penny.
A HEPA filter is NOT part of this product. It is an OEM product, not a replacement! My last complaint with this product is that it took a long time to arrive from England. What's really irritated me is that, for about $3 more, I could've bought an actual HEPA. We can all learn from this experience when searching for a "bargain" in the future. I love it. I think that little indicator strip on the MIELE controller needs to be improved. It's really a drag. It would help if there were a small L E D light that could go from green to red (new to used).

My opinion of this filter is nonexistent. My 1 star rating goes to Miele because their product names are awful. The HEPA filter would have been better for me, but it's not here. This product fit my vacuum but did not eliminate harmful particles. Your acquaintance with HEPAs is sufficient to know that they're made of folded paper. There was a hole in the black plastic. There appeared to be layers of different kinds of media in the interior. I would recommend buying from the manufacturer next time. I will buy directly from the manufacturer next time.
