Composting, on the other hand, is simply the act of combining the appropriate materials and allowing nature to take its course. It takes time, and I've only had it for a couple of weeks. When it's full, I'll take it and put it in my backyard compost heap, where it will eventually decompose. You should learn more about the procedure by reading some books on the subject. At my local library, I discovered a number of them.
If you're concerned about it smelling from the items you put in it, I can assure you that mine does not. For more than two weeks, I've been peeling vegetables and fruits, egg shells, and coffee grounds.
This is something I recently discussed on my blog. My cabinet door will not close because the bin is too high on the cabinet door hook. If it was around 1/8-inch thick, that would be fine. It would be fine if it were 1/4" lower, and the wall mounting attachment could work if it didn't fit so tightly that I couldn't easily remove the bin from the wall mount. I need to be able to easily remove the bin so that I can empty the contents into my yard bin at the curb for my hauler.
We apologize for the inconvenience, but the Amazon warehouse does not currently stock separate replacement parts.

Small, straightforward, and practical. Exactly as described and depicted in the advertisement. It's the ideal size for scraps and composting because it collects enough items before they smell. The main hanging hook fits perfectly in my cabinet, and the fully removable lid is an added bonus. When you remove the lid, it has a small hook that can be hung from the rim or handle. To give you an idea of scale, here are some photos of a regular dinner knife. A 3 gallon compostable bag is currently in use.
Because it fits underneath and inside the cabinet, I'm pleased with this compost bucket. It has a piece that slides up and down to allow you to dump the bucket outside when it's full. I used to despise having compost on the counter because it takes up so much room, so this is a huge help. Emptying, cleaning, and replacing it is a breeze. The ONLY thing I wish was different is that the lid was a pop-up so you didn't have to pull it off every time, as my hands are often full of scraps to throw inside; more of a "hands free" type of lid, but it's not that much of a bother, just inconvenient when both hands are being used. It would be easier if I simply remembered to remove the lid before cutting my produce, use it as needed, and then replace the lid when I was done. Overall, this is a great product.
I was having a lot of fun with this compost bin. It fit neatly beneath the sink and was relatively simple to clean and maintain. Then, today, I went to put some bananas in the compost and pushed them down a little, and the door's hook snapped. I haven't had it long and haven't put much pressure on it, so I'm only giving it two stars. If it hadn't been for the breaking, it would have been a 4.
My stepfather was the recipient of this gift. He keeps all of our leftover food and feeds it to our chickens. He used to put the food in a grocery bag that hung from the pantry door. It stank and was disgusting. As a result, I purchased this for him. This is a game changer. It can hold all of the food and there is no odor. (As long as it doesn't open again).
We were putting our compostables into a pot on the stove, uncovered, until we had enough to put in the bin until I bought this. It was a bit of a shambles, to say the least. drew a swarm of flies Upgraded to a container designed specifically for the job. This one appealed to me primarily because of the low price, which was less than $20. I had no idea how adaptable it was going to be. It's currently tucked away on the side of the fridge. However, it could be put to other uses. There's also a device that allows you to hang it on the outside of a drawer. There's a handle on it as well. If I'm working on something that will generate a lot of material, I currently remove it from the refrigerator's mount and place it on the counter. Then I either put it back or take it to the trash can to dump it. To keep it clean, I'm lining it with a plastic shopping bag. The lid is excellent; it keeps the container sealed, preventing fruit flies from infesting it. This item has exceeded my expectations.
I only wish it was a little bigger because it's a great compost bin. It's made of high-quality plastic, and the lid closes securely. A compost bin can't do much more than that. br>br>The only issue I had was that the hanger mount would not allow the bin to hang low enough to clear the edge of the cabinet door frame on some older (early 1980s) cabinets. It does, however, come with two sticky mounts that will stick to just about any flat surface, allowing you to mount it inside the cabinet door or anywhere else you want. br>br>To summarize, you can't go wrong with this bin unless the 1. You need more than a 3 gallon container. I believe you'll be pleased with the product's quality and versatility in terms of mounting options.
It's ideal; we keep it on our counter, and it's attractive and simple to operate. It's simple to clean because the little too part around it comes off; I remove it before emptying it, then empty it into the composer. Bring it in, clean it, and it'll be ready to go again. I'm also surprised that the smell isn't allowed to escape at all. I left everything in there for up to a week, and when I opened it to empty it, it was very stinky (obviously), but I wouldn't have known because the smell was sealed inside.
I'm not sure why I thought it was a good idea to buy a plastic compost bin for inside the house. Duh…. Plastic is a good absorber of odors. For the first few months, it was fine, but now it smells terrible. You can smell an odor even when the container is completely empty and freshly washed. I'd like to buy a new one, but the reason I started composting in the first place was to reduce waste, so getting rid of this and buying a new one will not help me achieve my goals. I'll keep using it, but if you're looking for something to hold your scraps in the house, get something metal. On the plus side, the lid closes securely, and using this container rather than an open bowl solved my fruit fly problem.
