CONSTRUCTION OF DURABLE STAINLESS STEEL TO LAST A LIFETIME: Molded in a single piece for strength and durability that will not scratch, crack, or chip. Made of high-quality, rust-resistant stainless steel that won't leach chemicals into your compost.
INCLUDES REPLACABLE CHARCOAL FILTER: An odorless indoor compost bin relies on a specially designed activated-charcoal filter. As with the bin, you can clean the filter with soap and water. With proper care, it can last up to 6 months.

Questions & Answers

Flies that eat fruit?

Although we do not have fruit flies, it is a BRILLIANT idea to insert a round (12-inch) (12-inch) (12-inch) (12-inch) (12-inch) (12-inch) (12-inch) (12- drip a coffee paper filter into the top above the filter (cup size) That's exactly what I'm going to do. in case something goes wrong Flies can't get to the carbon filter with all of its nooks and crannies if you use a paper coffee filter. nooks and crannies In addition, if you have a fly problem, you can: 1) Emptying the can at least once a week, if not more frequently, is highly recommended; 2) The house is infested with flies. Those window screens need to be replaced.

What is the procedure for replacing the charcoal filter?

I've discovered two approaches that are effective for me: pinching your fingers - Works for the first filter most of the time, but not so much for the second and third. The thick end of a chopstick or a thick bar stir stick (my personal favorite). I always have a few sets of chopsticks on hand, and I've discovered that the thicker end won't pierce your filters. Simply push it through one of the top holes, and both filters will be pushed out far enough for you to grab them with your hands. It is well worth the brief annoyance you may experience as a result of the need for additional equipment! The double filter is both a lifesaver and a lifesaver for your nose. Trust me! br>Another thing to consider: For each square/circle replacement pack you purchase, I recommend picking up an extra set of round filters. The bottom (round) filter will require more frequent replacement than the top (square) filter. If the bottom filter gets wet by accident (which happens frequently when I overfill the bin), it molds quickly. You won't have to change the top filter as often because it stays fairly dry. I hope this information is useful, and good luck with your composting efforts!

Will the scraps compost in this or do they need to be transferred to a regular compost bin?

People, you need to take a step back and think about what you're saying. Read up on composting if you're unfamiliar with the process. You fill your COMPOSTER in your YARD with food scraps. This BIN is for storing food scraps until you have enough to compost. It's a magical place where food scraps decompose, compost, and turn into dirt, and you can even stand there and watch it happen. Waiting for it to happen, on the other hand, may wear you out. If you have a tumbler composter, you can turn food scraps into dirt in as little as two weeks; otherwise, it will take much longer, but the benefits will be worth it. We used to buy potting soil for the garden to plant our vegetables and flowers in before we started composting. Now that we have compost, we only buy fertilizer on rare occasions and rely on it almost entirely. I currently compost in seven different bins and turn it out quickly. You can actually learn if you read up on it, and you won't need to ask some of the questions I've seen here if you do. br> br> br> br> br> Best wishes!

What kind of number filter is this?

I paid $3 for my replacement filetr. OurCrazyDeals has a score of 80 out of 100. Filter No. 93F

The stench of rotting produce and rotten dreams is effectively mask by the charcoal filter
4/5

This counter was purchased by me. My girlfriend needed a new compost bin because hers had begun to leak. The package arrived quickly, and I delivered it to her on a lovely spring Sunday afternoon. We sat on the veranda, sipping chardonnay in what I mistakenly mistook for pleasant silence. I mentioned that I had a small surprise for her after a while, and I took the compost bin out of the box. It was simple yet elegant. br>br> In the sunlight, the stainless steel finish gleamed, and the lid was cocked rakishly to one side, as if to say hello. She slapped the compost bin out of my hands and yelled that she didn't want it. She yearned for the compost bin she'd had for years, the one that was spontaneous and made her feel alive, the one she truly adored. br>br>As my hopes and dreams for our future together shattered and fell around me, I was heartbroken. Gone were the plans to use the bin as an impromptu ice bucket for the champagne we'd share on our engagement night. As were our future children's thoughts about tossing orange rinds and banana peels into this bin. only to be a figment of one's imagination that will never see the light of day. I strewn the remnants of my heart and soul into a pile with my foot, then picked them up with numb fingers and tossed them into the compost bin. Wow, for being so small and unobtrusive, it gets a 1. It's amazing how much a 3 gallon container can hold. The lid slid over the top snugly and has remained in place to this day. br>br>Months later, the bin is still sitting on the kitchen counter- at the top of my list- Apartment with one room. There is no trace or scent of the putrid remains of my life, my hope, and my heart that lay inside. Four out of five stars because the handle could be a little more sturdy. I would definitely buy from them again.

Unlike some of the other reviewers, I think this bin is fantastic
5/5

Because that's how Amazon reviews work, I'm giving it five stars because I have no complaints about this compost bin. br>br>However, based on a couple of reviews I'm reading right now, I'm guessing that the main reason I'm happy with this bin (aside from the fact that it does exactly what it's supposed to do) is that I actually understand what a compost bin is and what composting entails. If you're brand new to this, here are some pointers: 1. br>br> A compost bin is nothing more than a pot with a lid on top of it. If you're going to order this and then be disappointed when you receive what is essentially just a pot with a lid in the mail (despite the numerous images on this page that clearly show what is essentially just a pot with a lid on it), then just go buy a pot and save yourself the trouble of writing a really stupid Amazon review blaming the product for the fact that you didn't know what a compost bin was. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Composting entails putting food scraps in a bucket (or a pot with a lid) in your kitchen that would otherwise be thrown away. As a result, it, like the rest of the items in your kitchen that come into contact with food, will *get dirty*. You'll have to *wipe it down* a lot to get the residue out of whatever you put in it, just like the rest of your kitchen. Don't be fooled by the term "compost bin" into thinking that this item can magically self-decompose. clean. Keep in mind that this is essentially a pot with a lid. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. The thing about food scraps is that they don't have to be thrown away. They deteriorate with time, even if only a few days pass. The term "rotting" is used to describe this process of decomposition. THESE ARE THE REASONS WHY WE COMPOST THEM. If you leave your compost on the counter for more than a week, it will begin to smell. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BLAME THE BIN - Get off your dangling arse and empty the dangling thing. If your trash was full of rotten food, would you keep it for a week? NO. To be honest, a bin large enough to hold a week's worth of trash isn't ideal. Compost bins aren't a cure-all for all compost-related ills. If you don't want your food scraps to smell on your counter but also don't want to walk all the way to your compost bin more than once a week, composting might not be for you. That's fine; just don't give it a three-star rating on Amazon once you've figured it out.

- br>br>All right, I'll stop snarking now. This bin appeals to me in the following ways: br>br>*It looks nice on the counterbr>*It has a carrying handle, unlike your typical pot with a lidbr>*It is well-madebr> equilibrated *I've had little to no problem with fruit flies, presumably because I've been careful to only remove the lid when I'm putting stuff in the binbr>*It cleans easilybr>*It is durable and unbreakablebr>br>Basically, it does everything a compost bin should do, assuming you don't have ridiculous, uninformed, and mutually-destructive neighbors. expectations about how it will work that are incompatible.

It's extremely practical
5/5

This bin is one of my favorites. I've never needed to put it in the dishwasher, scrub it, or even use soap to clean it because it wipes clean so easily. There is no odor left behind after washing with hot water and drying with a towel. There have been several inquiries about the container's airtightness, and here's my two cents: br>br>The lid is already a perfect fit; However, I followed the advice of those who suggested placing a paper towel between the liner (if one is used, as I do) and the pail. I cut a lengthwise segment of two [connected] paper towels and arrange them in the pail so that either end of each towel comes up the side of the pail and ends at the top - It fits perfectly inside the pail and completely covers the interior. Then I add the liner, and the lid now has an extra-large appearance, thanks to the layer of paper towel and the liner hanging over the lip. snug fit. br>br>It takes a little more effort, but I had a bad case of fruit flies last year, so it's worth noting. I got rid of them in about a month, and I never had a single fruit fly in the compost pail during that time. I assumed the charcoal filter worked as a deterrent because the lid was tight.

- I've had mine for five months and have yet to need to replace the filter.
- If anyone cares, the attachment point for the handle appears to be watertight.
- The size is ideal (again, someone else has waxed poetic about it in a hilarious review); For more information, see the aforementioned review).
- It's a fantastic design. Despite its tightness, the lid pulls off easily, and the handle is convenient.
- My god, I adore how simple it is to clean and maintain. Simple is best, and I'd give this pail an NSF certification in a heartbeat.
