Questions & Answers

What is the overall height if you don't use the wheels?

The distance between the floor and the top of the pole is 70 1/2 inches with the wheels installed. I also took a measurement from top to bottom of the pole without the wheel and came up with 68 inches.

What is the length and weight capacity of the clothing rack?

The length of the rack is 35 inches. The maximum weight load is 176 pounds, according to the manufacturer. I've filled the rack to the brim, and the rod shows no signs of bending. The rack appears to be of good quality.

I have a few of these racks and would like to add a couple of additional shelves to the bottom. Is it possible for me to buy these things separately?

Whitmor sells shelves for around $13 each, but you'll also need the sleeves to keep the shelf in place on the poles. Add in the cost of shipping as well. This information was obtained when I contacted Whitmor to inform them that the top shelf could not be used for storage because it was required to be placed at the very top in order to keep the canvas cover (which was an additional purchase) taut across the top. Otherwise, due to a lack of support, it sags and appears unkempt. When I mentioned that this item does not have two storage shelves if the cover is used, my comments were met with disapproval. Aside from that, it's more durable than other storage units I've purchased.

Without the casters, how tall are they?

The casters extend the 69" rack by 3", making it a total of 72".

Two levels are too short to hang
3/5

It's a great concept, but it's just not practical. I built it with the top and bottom rods as close together as possible, but the rods' drop wastes 4" on each level. My shortest shirts continue to puddle on the shelf/floor, as well as the rod beneath it.

AT ASSEMBLY, AN IMPORTANT TIP
4/5

A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE ON ASSEMBLY! br>br>The instructions state that the wheels must be installed before the Shelves can be installed. It's not a good idea to go through with it. Even with a hammer, I couldn't get the shelf flush with the rubber marker. So I removed the wheels, and then I could pound it down with a hammer until the black rubber thing vanished into the shelf, or I could make it flush with the shelf. br>br>You also won't need a wrench, which is good because they didn't send one to me. Simply screw the pole into the top part of the wheel while holding it tightly. Great resource for my home, but the assembly instructions are ridiculous. br>br>For the quality, it's a fantastic deal. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Once put together, it's very strong. Last but not least. Shelves and hanger bars can be arranged however you like. You are not confined to doing it in the manner depicted in the diagram.

It's alright, but not quite as good as it could be
4/5

I had originally purchased a Whitmor Supreme Double Rod Garment Rack Rolling Clothes Organizer, which I adored, but the price of that one had increased, so I bought this one instead. This one is a little smaller, and it won't fit adult shirts on both hanging rods without touching the rod or the bottom. It would be ideal for children's clothing. I don't think it's as durable as the Whitmor, and it lacks the swinging valet for longer items. It's still preferable to the thin pole model I'm replacing. If you're buying something for an adult, spend the extra money on the larger, more durable Whitmor. This is the one to use if you only need one hanging rod or if you're using it for kids and don't want to overstuff it.

If you're putting this together on your own, follow my instructions
5/5

If you're doing it on your own, follow my instructions. I'm a senior citizen who put it together on my own, but not in the way they did. I did things my way, as Frank would put it. Four poles and two shelves make up the basic structure. The shelves are attached to the poles by sliding them into place. The shelves are held in place by plastic sleeves. The poles are made up of two pieces that are threaded together to make four long poles. The top of the pole is capped, and the bottom has an opening through which the wheels are screwed on. We'll start doing things my way at this point. Working on the floor, I was able to accomplish this. About a foot from each end of the poles, slide the shelves onto the poles. By doing so, the shelves will be able to support the long poles and prevent them from flopping around. This also makes it easier to see where the shelves should be placed. Now it's time to put on your sleeves. Keep in mind that they'll be stowed away beneath the shelves. "Top" is written on the sleeves. This is due to the fact that the bottom of the sleeves are wider, which helps to keep the shelves in place. Place the sleeves where you want the bottom shelf to go, then slide the bottom shelf down over them. Slide the top shelf to the desired position, then place the sleeves UNDER the shelf. The top shelf should then be slid over the sleeves. In the bottom pole, screw the casters in place. Place the garment rack on its side. Slide the hanging rod down over the top shelf after putting it together. You've completed the task. Forget about the wrench; it's just a piece of metal shaped like one. I did it with my hands and fingers. br>br>I'm bumping this up to Five Stars now that it's been a few weeks. It serves as an additional closet in my bedroom. It's full of clothes and doesn't sway. I have to move it around from time to time, and it is very easy to do so. I decided to raise the top shelf after I finished putting it together. I removed everything from the room. I removed the hanging rod. I pounded on the bottom of the top shelf to loosen it from the sleeves while keeping the garment rack in a standing position. After that, I raised the shelf and then lowered it again. It was simple to complete. Senior Lady has given us another update. Here's an easy way to cover it if you're using it as a closet in your bedroom. Shower curtains are a good idea. They're the ideal length and have holes all the way around the top. Regular shower hooks can be used, or you can simply string something through the holes and tie it on. Drape something over the top, whether it's a tablecloth or a lace curtain. If the top piece starts to slide, place something on top of it to keep it in place. You'll have something that looks nice while also keeping your clothes clean.

The lower rack is a waste of time
3/5

Uneven welds and bent top and bottom shelves were visible flaws on three of the four racks. The boxes were in perfect condition when they arrived, so the flaws were in the manufacturing process. They appear to be structurally sound and can move around freely, even while wearing clothing. Apart from the aesthetic issues, the second rack has proven to be useless. They can't hold a second row of adult shirts because they're too short. It's possible that it'll work for a child. However, t-shirts are available in a variety of sizes. Shirts that were too long for a 5'2" person to fit on the lower shelf.

Poor quality, and putting it together was a nightmare
3/5

This was not a cheap closet organizer, but aside from the high price, the product is of poor quality: assembly was a chore that took hours, the product was damaged, and the plastic pieces were cracked and didn't fit properly. I can't return it because it's already put together, but I wanted to warn people that this is a low-quality product; instead, go to Home Depot and get exactly what you need.

This is not something you should construct with your wife or significant other! If you're thinking about doing it with your wife or significant other, this is the place to be
4/5

DONT! She might mix up the top and bottom racks, and the clips won't fit, so she'll start banging on it with a hammer like an ape in 2001: A Space Odyssey, and then you'll ask if you can try, and then the silent treatment will begin. I repeat, putting this together with your significant other could lead to divorce or a breakup. Thank you so much for coming to my TED talk.

It's very sturdy and simple to put together, and it can hold a lot of weight
5/5

So, at first, I attempted to place the shelf in the incorrect position. So that took an extra minute for me, but as long as the shelf slides over the side of the little black things that says "top," you're good. It went super smoothly once I figured out what I had done wrong, and I had it built in under 10 minutes. br>As you can see in the photo, it can support a lot of weight. It holds my entire dress collection as well as some large shoes on top and is in excellent condition. Those dresses are also quite heavy, indicating that they are of high quality. The purchase was satisfactory to me.
