With cedar it is the same. 3 lavender packs were placed in the closet of the bedroom. There are three cedars in the coat closet in the hallway. The doors were closed. It would never occur to me that there are strangers nearby In no way, shape, or form. Now I tried my drawers and there is still no scent to be found in there.

It smelt pretty amazing and strong at the beginning but then the smell faded Thus, I am not exactly sure if it has any effect on keeping away moths.
