This was just delivered to me today. First, the control board does not include the plastic cover with the writing on it; it's an additional $18, and I need to make sure I get the right replacement. I tried to take the old one off, but it broke, so I'll have to order a new one, wait for it, disassemble everything, and reassemble it. Why not get the cover and the new control panel as a package deal? br>The new part isn't identical to the old one. As seen in the illustration. I'm not sure if I connected it correctly, but there's no smoke or sparks. The instructions – They were a little hazy for me. I was pleased with the price, and I will be satisfied if I purchase the correct cover. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> The control panel is operational, and the second image depicts the old control panel cover, which is in the process of being replaced. Others appear to have been able to peel the old one off, but that was not the case with mine, so you may want to order the replacement at the same time as the control. If you're able to do so, please do so. If you want to use the old one, that's fine; just send the new one back. That way, if the old one doesn't come apart in one piece, you won't have to disassemble everything again.
My x- This part was purchased and installed by my husband. I'm still single and stubborn after 5 years. I've always attempted to solve problems independently. I saw a good video on YouTube and decided to order it. I had my 12-year-old hold the light while I cut my finger removing the old one, fingers crossed it was the right part. I plugged in the new one after it was installed. It was successful! There were a lot of high fives. It's very simple to put together, but I recommend photographing the wires before removing the old one. Doing it myself probably saved me $200, and no one would come out to service it anyway in the middle of Covid.
I drew a quick diagram of where the wires go, then used a hair dryer along the outer edges and a wide putty knife to carefully remove the thin flimsy plastic indicator panel that covers the front, which worked perfectly and I was able to re-stick it to the new one! Work smart and turn off the unit's power before beginning this repair! Thank you for your prompt service!.
Even though it didn't look exactly like the old part, it would still work fine, according to the note inside the box. Five minutes later, we discovered the truth - it didn't look exactly like the old part. It didn't help me with my problem. However, thanks to Amazon's return policy, I was only responsible for the cost of return shipping. I doubt it was a fault with my stove because we put the old control board back in and everything, but the oven still works fine, and it was supposed to be a true GE product to begin with.
Because the old one is glued to the old controller, you'll need to get a new one as well.
I tried to replace the oven light bulb and ended up shorting the light switch, but it worked great as a replacement for my GE oven control board. I made a stupid error by not unscrewing the bolts and instead popping off the wire over the glass piece. Now the oven works like new.
The correct circuit board was packaged and delivered in a timely manner.
