No, it was painted.
This is, indeed, a nutcracker made of wood.
At this point, I have no idea. I'll check this weekend when I put up the Christmas decorations. To open his mouth, I believe he just moves an arm.
I wouldn't trust it to crack nuts; I'm a nutcracker collector, and honestly, few made these days can actually crack nuts; they're more for show.

When I first saw it, it caught my eye because it's too cute to pass up, but when I got it, the excitement that comes with receiving something you've ordered vanished. The eyes were off and had some of the blush from the cheeks run into the white of the eye, the feet were different sizes, the gem with the snowflake on the middle of the hat was not at all centered, and there was a piece of wood missing from one of the hands due to a scratch or something. I purchased this along with another Nutcracker; needless to say, I am in love with this one so much that I chose to replace it, but I will return if similar issues with the details arise. For the price, it should be in excellent condition. With the other nutcracker, I didn't have much luck getting my money back, but I'm hoping for the best with this one. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I believe in being truthful, so hopefully this will help:.
This nutcracker is adorable, sparkly, and festive, and he'd look great as a centerpiece surrounded by greenery and holly with berries. That's something I'm thinking about doing with him. I am extremely happy. br>br> br>br> br>br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> br> He must have been a big hit! br>br>It's time for an update. I enjoyed it so much that I bought it for my mother as a present. However, the cookie hat was glued on completely skewed and looked terrible when it arrived. This is the third nutcracker I've returned, and the fifth that was defective. The other two were able to be fixed. The quality control issues bother me a lot, especially considering how expensive these things can be. No more Kurt Adler products will be purchased.
I didn't have high expectations when I opened my package because it was battered, but it's perfect! I love how glittery and done up it is in comparison to some of the more plain looking ones I've seen in nearby stores. My only criticism is that the red pouf on top is a little smaller than shown in the photo, but it still looks cute. Next Christmas, I'll undoubtedly require another.
It's adorable for a nutcracker, but I wish it was better made for the money.
For my grandson's Christmas present, I buy a nutcracker. It's not always easy to find something unique and special, but this one was fantastic. He adored it because it was unlike anything else he had seen before and was extremely appealing.
It is delivered in excellent condition. in a sturdy box with styrofoam insulation foam. The glitter isn't strewn all over the place, and the detail is incredible! I originally purchased one for myself because I have a collection of KA nutcrackers, but they were on sale, so I purchased two more for friends. Adorable! Although it can be used to crack nuts, it is far too attractive to do so:.
The embellishments were unglued when it arrived. Instead of returning my glue, I used it. br>Not of the same caliber as a genuine German nutcracker. China is where these are produced. Next time, I'm going to buy the real ones.
Up close, his paint job is a little shoddy, but he looks good from afar. He is one of my favorite people. I'm glad I picked him up for my Valentine's Day display.
