The steamer is designed to remove wrinkles from fabric, so it can remove wrinkles from that fabric.
Since you are keeping it upright and it is not overfull, I would guess it is defective as I have never had that problem. For any of your benefit, I hang my clothes on the front of a closet door so that it acts as a board to iron on. I start from the bottom of my garment, working in three small sections. Sections of four inches are placed in a downward motion, then a higher portion is added. The steamer has been used on a daily basis for 6 months and I have never experienced water sputtering out, but it did take some practice to keep it upright at all times.
No, I don't think that would be a good use of it. The device's purpose is to get rid of wrinkles on fabrics. It would be so much easier if we had a window cleaner! It's also a rather small bottle, which would require you to keep refilling it over and over again.

It only takes about two minutes for the water to heat up, then 90 seconds for the article of clothing to be wrinkle-free (is that a word?). Yes, this does not replace an iron as far as making creases and completely flattening your garment is concerned, but it does work at It is unlikely that you want that 7 percent of the time. Get this thing before your wife gets it and proves you wrong once.
Don't get involved if it will only take you 15 minutes or less. Yes, it is only a matter of minutes before it heats up and begins to work. After 15 minutes, however, you have to wait for it to cool off before you can remove it and clean it. Then you will get a buildup of some sort of substance in there that will The product informs you of this as well and that is why it is a five-star product in my opinion. It would have been better for me to read the fine print before I made my purchase.
Prior to buying this steamer, I did a lot of research, and, unfortunately, the product that I received did not meet the rating and reviews on the web. Steam is generated by this steamer, but that's all it does. The steamer did not remove light wrinkles from a garment (a sundress), and it turned out to be more of a chore to use the steamer than to use the ironing board and iron to do so. In purchasing this steamer, I wanted it to be an easy way to get wrinkles out of garments otherwise needing detailed pressing - I thought it would help me do just that We all know the benefits of saving money and time. The one you're looking for isn't here.
It wasn't practical to take on a trip so I had to use my daughter's steamer instead (thank God she brought one), and ended up throwing it in the garbage, like it shouldn't exist. I wanted to return it, but couldn't print out the return label or get it back in time for the deadline, so I had to keep it. Oh well, at least it wasn't too expensive. Now I'm off to find a better quality product.
Because of the size and the fact that it's ideal for traveling, I really wanted to like this product. Despite the fact that my other steamer is too big, it works fine. I filled the steamer to the 'side' and it was sprouting water where steam should be exiting. I began to burn my fingers and hand as the hot water burned my fingers and hand. I'd rather buy an old-fashioned portable iron and bring it on my travels instead. Even though the size is perfect, it just doesn't work as well as I would like. The size of this product makes it worthy of two stars.
I'm very impressed with how fast and powerful the steamer heats up. The water I use usually allows me to steam a few shirts at a time. The device has also been with me on more than one trip. As it does not take up much space, it is ideal for this purpose. If you have a small carryon, you may find it hard to fit but not impossible. Depending on what else is in the bag, it might still be a problem. The one I have at home is larger than this one, so I prefer to use it here.
As of yet I haven't used it on a collared shirt, but I'm.
