The cooktop is very nice

This unit has been in my possession for approximately 6 months. It wouldn't turn on when I got it, so I opened the controller box and yanked on the spring-loaded switch. It has worked perfectly since I loaded metal buttons to make contact with the glass plate and removed an extra gasket. It boils water so fast that I can't even cross the room to get the coffee filters before it boils! I'm currently in the process of purchasing a second one. It makes a loud screechy sound, similar to some induction cooktops, but I can live with that.
